This. Everyone kept fouling out. Double OT. Huge game and win.
It was in 2009, though.

What a game. Listened to the whole damn thing in my parked car in Hammond.

Single game performances greater than TQ's Shaq against Loyola Marymount 20 pts, 24 boards, 12 blocks

No. That was a cheap game. Run and gun with virtually no defense played. I give Shaq a lot of credit for the blocks, a little credit for 24 rebounds, and zero credit for the points.

Yeah it wasn't on TV. No one saw it unless you were there. That'll make you never take the SEC network for granted.

A couple of days later LSU released a crappy single camera replay of the game.

Can't remember which game , but it seems that in 1986 John Williams had a triple double. He was very dominant and led us to the Final Four that year. I think he was MVP of the SEC tournament even though we lost to Kentucky in the final. It was our third loss to Kentucky that year, but the fourth time was magical :)

Chris Jackson 48 points and 53 points in 2 games his first month as a freshman at LSU. Finished averaging 30.2 points a game. Had 55 points in one game his freshman year. Scored double figures in 63 of 64 career games, with more than 20 points 52 times, more than 30 points 28 times, more than 40 points 11 times and more than 50 points four times

Holy shite. I am assuming these numbers are accurate, that is insane. Has anyone ever had better?
Yes, one person had better numbers than Chris Jackson. And the bad thing for CJ, that was the Pistol. So despite his insanely gaudy numbers (and yep those are correct), he was at the one school where it wasn't a record.

Yep. Amazing how things have changed. I was shocked to find out EVERY basketball game would be on TV this year. Shocked and overjoyed.

There's no question that CJ and Pistol were great scorers and passers. But did they ever get close to a triple double? Not trying to diminish anything they accomplished. Just highlighting how rare of a feat it is.

Since Pete Maravich had a triple double I would say he was close to one.

And pistol was a phenomenal passer. He was top 10 all time in the sec in assists for many years if I am not mistaken

LSU's Mount Rushmore of all-time players; Maravich, Pettit, Macklin and Oneal; more than likely have most if not all of the 20 best performances ever for a Tiger. TQ's fantastic game likely breaks the top 40 or even 30 but not much higher.

I feel sorry for yall that didn't live through Chris Jackson's time at LSU. It was unreal. Like we signed an alien basketball player.

I'm sure the Maravich folks feel the same way.

One of the things I remeber most about Jackson was how clutch he was at free throws.

He made like shot FT's at 94% his entire college career.

If the OP is only concerned with triple doubles, then pete had 1 in his lsu career and shaq had like 4. Thats it. All of shaq's included blocks insteAd of assists.

Man, you guys are hypnotized by the 2 words "triple double". If he ended up with 9 rebounds, that performance would not make an all time top 50 list. That was one IMPORTANT rebound.

I think the thing that gets lost in TQ's performance is he also put the clamps on one of the SEC's leading scorers. He became the 3rd guy in LSU history (I think) to record a triple double and he did it while shutting down the other team's best player.

Again, I'm not saying his performance makes him better than Shaq or Pistol or CJ. Hell, he's not even the best player on the team right now. I'm just saying it was a really rare thing that happened this past Saturday and he probably deserves more accolades than he's getting.

Pistol Pete could have shite those numbers out from the bench. Not trying to take anything away from TQ because he had a great game, but there are far too many to list that were better.
