I know it takes time to adjust to a new scheme. I am just starting to worry that we don't have the personnel to run the 3-4. We are 29th in scoring defense with only Florida, Alabama and A&M ahead of us.

I just hope it comes together, but I don't like the big plays we have been giving up. I guess going through 3 DC's in 3 years doesn't help either.

I think so, yes.

I think our personnel, right now, is more fit to run a 4-3. I don't like Godchaux at DE.

Give it time. I think we'll have one if the best defenses in the country by the end of this year or beginning of next.

Our defense is good enough to win the SEC. Offense? Not so much.

There is a large learning curve from a 4-3 to a 3-4. The trick is to get each player to read and react to their assignments. This will take time, and that's something we don't have time for, with a stagnant offense. Miles has made his bed, and it's on a UHaul truck.

The Lbs aren't used to dropping in coverage so that's just a work in progress. My only issue is I'm not seeing all the gap deception we were promised and unfortunately we saw it bigtime from Wisconsin.

Right now we DON'T have the personnel to run the 3-4. We have two positions with personnel problems.

1. The F linebacker is either Bower (too slow) or Divinity (inexperienced).
2. At nose guard we have one guy able to play the position (Valentine), but he's so out of shape that he can't play more than about 40% of the plays. Gilmore gets pushed around too much, and he will be destroyed by the good SEC lines. Alexander has the potential, but he needs to learn the position.

Every other position group is either good or great.

We have all the talent in the world to run any defense. We just don't have the ability to implement it, with a 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense. On paper, Aranda was a great hire, but not for a Miles lead offense.

Penrod, I agree with your assessment...but TV knows he's got to lose weight and Coach O. will do what he can to help him...if we have a good outing this weekend against State, their confidence and shape should gradually improve...

If piss poor Wisconsin can run a it, we can run it even better. They don't play in the SEC west.

Agreed. I think the gap deception is going to be unveiled this week in small doses and will increase as the season progresses.

DBs, no names, keep taking chances we will get lit up eventually. Hopefully Raymond and Aranda are on that

yes, but needs time to adjust. we dont have a booger mcfarland on the roster at this point. may be next year before we see a marked improvement. I do think they have done well considering.
