Doesn't matter much to me.

I would much rather have our Eastern division opponent rotated each season...

as an aside, LSU may be the only SECW power that cares about this. i bet AU and Bama fans are fine with atl every year cause it's so close to them.

for olemiss/msu/ark, might as well have the damn thing on the moon.

Probably so, as we are the one's farthest away.

Having it in Atlanta is a huge advantage for UGA as it's right next door. Although, you can say the same thing about the Sugar Bowl. I'd like to have the SEC Championship game in the SuperDome, but I'm ok with going to Atlanta as long as they don't take the Sugar Bowl away from N.O.

Not 100% true. Ole Miss and Ark have shorter drives to New Orleans even though for Ole Miss it's 8 mins shorter and for Arky it's 40 mins shorter.

And while it's easy to forget about Starkville, that's closer to NOLA than to ATL as well.

I like the idea of rotating it between N.O. and Atlanta

I think you might be surprised. The comment about UM/MSU was hilarious though!

Nope. Closer to Atlanta, not by much though.

how big is the georgia dome? surley some of these SEC stadiums are bigger. this would allow more tickets to be sold making more money.

No. It should be played in Baton Rouge every year.

It really does give the SEC East fans an advantage.

Not true. There have been 17 SECCG's. The SEC West representative was the closer school to Atlanta eight times.

It should not be in New Orleans due to the fact that the winner would in all liklihood have to come back in a month to play the sugar bowl. Other than LSU and Bama, most fan bases would have a hard time making the trip twice in a month.

So why the frick is it fair for LSU to lose to Georgia (in the dome) in 2005's SECCG, only to have to make the return trip to the Peach bowl weeks later?

It doesn't matter if they play on the same field twice or not, and the other Sugar Bowl team is typically an at-large anyways, so who gives a frick about them?

The West teams have to travel a long distance to go to the Georgia Dome every year,
Only LSU and Arkansas are a considerable distance away from Atlanta. The other 10 SEC schools are within a 6-hour drive.

The SECCG should be pulled from Atlanta as soon as you can find the following:
- A suitable stadium.
- A city that is more central than Atlanta (the only city that is more central than Atlanta is Birmingham.)

Fair thing to do would be move it to Vaught-Hemingway. Then there would never be any possibility of a home field advantage.

Wouldn't mind if it stayed in New Orleans, holds the most amount of people out of them all.

This is a non-issue every time a thread like this is started.

The two schools who are furthest from Atlanta are a combined 3-4 in SECCG's.

The four schools who are furthest from Atlanta are a combined 9-6 in SECCG's.

Clearly it's fair enough.

there are other issues pertaining to fairness beyond game outcome effects.
1. should the same fanbases have to suffer the inconvenience and expense of long travel?
2. should only one community derive the financial windfall?

Should the SEC Championship Game be rotated?
My idea was to rotate the SEC football CG and the SEC basketball and baseball championships between Atlanta and New Orleans.

Meaning if Atlanta had the football CG, New Orleans would have the championship games in both basketball and baseball that same year.

So every year, the championship games would rotate between east and west.

That would be sweet. New Orleans and Atlanta are both great big event host cities.
