I like Atlanta and all, but wouldn't it be a lot more fair if the game alternated years between the Superdome and the Georgia Dome?

Or,

If they weren't that concerned about weather in early December, they could rotate it between the Georgia Dome, Superdome, Jacksonville Jaguars' Stadium, and Titans' Stadium.

Thoughts?

Nashville in December would be too cold. Everywhere else is farther for all teams in the SEC than Atlanta, with the exception of Florida, so moving it to New Orleans would not just be a disadvantage to the East teams.

It should be, but it wont. It really does give the SEC East fans an advantage.

ha ha. in the thread about ou fans whining DaBike says 'playing the sec championship game in atl every year is an advantage to some teams, but you never hear LSU crying...

the bottom line is every alternate site has disadvantages that outweigh any benefit of a fair geographical location.

Charlotte? good god that's acc country.

I think there was the issue of the ACC chomping at the bit to get Atlanta for its game, so the SEC is hesitant to give it up for fear of future scheduling disputes.

This was talked about many months ago...heck it might of been last year.
Not sure if any thing will ever change as far as location but the conversation was good if I remember correctly.

Try searching the forums to see if you can find the thread

The thing about it is, the only neutral stadium west of Atlanta is located in New Orleans. I suppose if they rotated it between the Superdome and Georgia Dome each year, it would be fine. The West teams have to travel a long distance to go to the Georgia Dome every year, why not make the East teams travel a long distance every other year? Seems fair.

Because New Orleans is a farther drive for all of the West teams than Atlanta as well, with the obvious exception of LSU.

But it's new Orleans, no other city has hotels bars and restaurants that close to it's stadium

Keep it in a Dome, for sure...no reason why it can't be in New Orleans and Atlanta.

The question is, though...is anyone in New Orleans actively trying to lure that game to NO?

It should not be in New Orleans due to the fact that the winner would in all liklihood have to come back in a month to play the sugar bowl. Other than LSU and Bama, most fan bases would have a hard time making the trip twice in a month.

I am okay with Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa. Birmingham is too cold in December, as is Nashville.

i like it in Atlanta and if you moved it to New Orleans for even a year, the ACC would jump on a long term deal. Would love to have it in New Orleans, but i just don't ever see it being moved.

Not 100% true. Ole Miss and Ark have shorter drives to New Orleans even though for Ole Miss it's 8 mins shorter and for Arky it's 40 mins shorter. Per Google maps of course.

I think it's a good idea.

obviously as a uga fan it's a great perq having the ga, i'm not gonna lie. but fairness would dictate that rotation is the way to go. we'd just have to accept the disads of N.O. (sugar bowl right after). birmingham (shitty facility) nash (cold) memphis (meh) in the pursuit of fairness.

it would not make geographic sense to have the game in fla or nc.

as i said, you move it from atlanta, you lose atlanta to the ACC championship. Its basically going to be impossible to move for financial reasons

My idea was to rotate the SEC football CG and the SEC basketball and baseball championships between Atlanta and New Orleans.

Meaning if Atlanta had the football CG, New Orleans would have the championship games in both basketball and baseball that same year.

So every year, the championship games would rotate between east and west.
