Seriously, what's with the Oregon hype?

They are losing:

Offense:
2 starting WR's
3 of 5 starting offensive lineman

Defense:
3 of 4 starting defensive lineman
2 of 3 starting linebackers
1 of 4 starting defensive backs...

* Not to mention any juniors that might have declared early.
* Not to mention that I'm not convinced this team would have beat LSU this past season. Sure, they made their game versus Auburn close in the end, but they were essentially DOMINATED that game, and Auburn never lost control even with Cam having been injured and them running a very conservative gameplan.

I just don't see the logic behind this game hype. They aren't what they were in 2010 and I'm not convinced they deserved to be in that game anyways. A point a minute versus pac 10 competition == 11 points for 3.8/4 of an entire game versus the 5th or 6th defense in the SEC.

They'll be hyped up till we skull-frick them in Dallas. I don't see any way they stay on the field with us for longer than a quarter. However, things change when the lights come on and you never know I guess.

They bring back their coach, QB, and all American RB. It is going to be a very tough game. And LSU struggles against this type of offense (see Ole Miss)

How does that compare with what LSU is losing? And unless we have a look at what Oregon is replacing their departing starters with, let's not talk about what LSU has behind PP7, Ridley, Shepperd, Nevis, etc.

no offense but couldn't they be wondering the same thing.

lsu loses some big time players and just because they bring back a lot of starters we should catapult them to number 1 because they looked good against a joke of a team in the bowl?

Well, just for fun, Oregon has been one of the 2 best teams in the Pac 10 the last few years, they just played in the BCS Title game, should have a Heisman contender, run a high-scoring offense...
we'll need to play our A-game to win. Same as if we played a top team from the Big 10 or Big 12 (and btw maybe those conferences should swap titles); just a big regional matchup when most folks play cupcakes.

This will be one of the top 5 games of 2011, including bowls. You can not underestimate them. But it's our year next year. The players will train too hard to let them take this away from us.

that's not why LSU is being "catapulted" to #1

The same all american that was held to 49 rush yards against an average SEC defense and real defense they faced all year? (granted they had Fairley)

thing that worries me the most is we have always struggled with mobile qb's and the spread. ole miss w/ masoli, florida w/ tebow, auburn w/ cam, etc. oregon is as good as any of them running this fast pace offense, and james is for real. i think with us having an improved DL next year w/ montgomery back, we could do well against them, but i don't think we run them off the field. seriously, we haven't done that to many teams at all the past few years, and oregon is better than a lot of the teams we struggled to beat

They've earned their hype and I expect it to be a tough game. However, I think we can take advantage of them having 3 new starters on the offensive line. If our front 4 can get pressure, we can slow them down much like Auburn did.

I'm with you... Where they have new linemen, we have veterans. That speed shite to the edge will fail quickly. Trex will play corner on 1st and 10. Big sambo is gonna be your defensive MVP. We win by 4 tds. But they are really good. I really respect their creativity and gadget-ness. Really, I do.

Only if our outside LBs and DEs learn to stay home and not collapse to the fake up the middle. Not something they were stellar at last season.

Yes, that is exactly why we are being considered for the top 5.. .because we beat a 'lousy' A&M team.

Yea, really they were great at it. But Sam got hurt
and mingo was too light in the arse. I expect Freak to be an instant contributor as well, so I'm banking on him and Brockers holding their own inside

this is getting old. accourding to opposing fans, you'd think we played an FCS team in our bowl.

Oregon will be very good once again and capable of beating anyone. LSU will have to bring their SEC style A-game to win. Anything less could result in a loss. That being said, I fully expect Les to have his charges primed and ready come September.

This is the one thing that scares me. That's why we had trouble against the likes of Ole Miss and Florida. We could give away some cheap TDs if Chavous gets blitz happy and we stay undisciplined on the edge.
