Me too. And that's why I've said I think it will be a close game at half, and hell they may even be leading by a few points. As LSU fans, we need to remember that this is the first time this offense will be on the field in a situation that's not a controlled scrimmage. I think it takes us a half to get our feet under us, then our talent and depth take over.

ETA: Lets not forget that you're replacing nearly all of your skill players. Mangum is good, but he's a statue, and that's not a good thing when you're facing LSU's D.

Will be happy to win or lose. In return, I hope when it isn't a blowout for LSU, fans here will be knowledgeable enough to recognize why that happened. Your boys have a tough opponent in Week 1.

I think Aranda knows how to assemble a top ranked defense which will minimize weakness so when we say freshman, it's not because they are some weak, skinny, unaware, 18 year old. It's because they are dominating the senior/junior upperclassmen, so much so, that they have to start the guy.

We won't beat you by more than 17, most likely.

Exactly. Delpit and Vincent are coming in and out playing 4* and 5* guys that are very talented, and would be the best player on BYU's D, but they're getting passed up at LSU.

I wouldn't be surprised by a blowout, but I don't expect one. A new retooled offense can be unpredictable either way. I'm expecting a 6-10 point win, strictly based on our depth and a dominant defense.

Cool. Trust me, I'm not trying to trash talk in any way here. Anyone can see that you've got a team of older and mostly more experienced players that are good athletes as well.

Frankly, the defense is the only thing that we feel that we can talk about at this point. We expect the O to do well but we just can't say what it will look like at this point. So sure, BYU might play a hell of a game and I'm looking forward to it!

I'll put it this way I've heard from good sources that the guy who just left for the jets and was a top draft pick is being replaced by someone with possibly more talent. He's easily on the same level as Jamal when Jamal came in, possibly better then he was as a freshman, and he was pretty darn good even then.

I really don't think it will take much time tbh. I'm not gonna say why but I think it will be a great mix. I don't think Canada will make things complicated for our first game but he will make this rough for their defense to handle.

Idk we'll see but unless BYU can run the ball, which I believe any team has to do against a good defense, then it will be very difficult to move the ball consistently for sure. I just can't see them running the ball on our front.

I know for a fact that the players aren't taking this game lightly. They are preparing for an SEC battle. They will come out strong, but mistakes do happen so we'll see. I'm ready for what ever happens myself.

What are u hearing at qb? If anything ? I know with etling we're prolly a 9-10 win team if oline stays whole. But can Brennan also win 9-10 ?? With our D and guice I wander if it isn't better to go with the more talented qb with bigger upside who happens to be the future ... I like etling and I know we're ok with him but if he can't easily beat Brennan out in this new offense then get him out there. A lot of teams have gone that route in recent years. UGA USC east and west. Bama. Etc.

You seem like a nice enough fella. Hell I just watched an episode of Aerial America about your lovely Mars-like state . Fitting since you'll soon encounter aliens . You haven't played against athletes like LSU , I assure you.
I will give you a word . One to remember and one you likely have encountered at various times albeit perhaps not in a football sense.

PERSPECTIVE.

You and your Mormon brethren will have it in abundance after this game.

This isn't our first OOC rodeo.
Congrats on the 8 seconds ...good luck with the busted spleen and cracked sacroiliac.

ETA- misspelled sacroiliac . Good learning experience . Take note BYU

Thanks for hanging around, always good to have opposing fans (without thin skin) around. If BYU can pull out a win it will probably be because our new offense struggles and turns the ball over and maybe some special teams miscues. Everyone here feels good about the defense for good reason. Dave Aranda has been turning out top 10 defenses since his time at Wisconsin. LSU may have less experienced talent than last year, but they still have more than Wisconsin has ever had.

Nothing, same as everyone else, he's starting. But I've heard from more than one person about Delpit and it's almost the exact same discriptions so it's likely true. He plays like a junior, very smart, dissects plays, and knows his roll. Can come up to tackle and play the pass at a high level. Physically mature beyond his years. All mentioned Jamal and no drop off.
