No disrespect to your fine cougs but that is where we operate. That is the standard, not an anomaly. This isn't Utah. We have lots of really good football players that will also be going to the NFL.

FWIW, you guys should have kept the special underwear. Anybody that will buy the Mormon story will have no issues with the underwear.

saying that can't happen, but it would be the exception and not the rule for the last 45 years of BYU football. We hear it from opposing fans every time we are about to play P5 programs. The talent discrepancy is never what the P5 fans expect. And seeing their faces when that realization hits home is almost as tasty as their tears after their team loses.
wtf does this mean? Don't confuse beating Texas when they were terrible with being worth a frick

are you saying that the backups last year are more talented than those that left after 2016? If they're more talented, then why weren't they starting in 2016?

we are saying that we feel that defensively our improvement in the DL will make up for the slight drop in our secondary. A secondary where the two corners played a ton, and the safeties are uber talented.

What is so hard for you to comprehend

Hopefully the actual LSU players and coaches will take BYU seriously, not treating them as a warm-up game like many of the fans here. BYU is no pushover, this coming from an LSU fan that is also a BYU alum.

Ask Ole Miss, Miss St, Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska, who all have in recent years lost to BYU, and whose talent is light years better than BYU's, at least in their fans'estimation.

BYU's defense is legit, and may give a new, untested offensive scheme some real problems.

BYU's offense is led by an NFL-caliber arm and very disciplined route runners, plus an experienced line.

That said: 21-17 LSU. Go Tigers.

Conventional wisdom says that a team improves the most between its first and second games. and BYU plays the week before the LSU game. That would tend to indicate a problem for LSU. However, it also means that LSU's new offensive scheme will get to watch film of the BYU defense, while the BYU defense will have only a vague idea of what to expect from LSU.

Non-conventional wisdom leads us into the debate as to whether having game film of BYU playing Portland State will be all that revealing about BYU's defense, or offense for that matter.

Both teams scoring 21 or fewer. Real slugfest.

So...
LSU 21
BYU 3
I could see that possibly happening.

Pop quiz time.

When was the last time BYU beat a top 25 team outside of Provo, Utah?

Keep in mind the blabbering but how competitive they are against the Power 5. The answer to the above question clarifies the really shitty power 5 as it has been a good 8 years since a top 25 win away from home.

That being said, they also fake punts on their own 3 so they always have that

I don't know all that much about LDS.

I will rag the shite out of their football team this week but I have several LDS clients and they truly are fantastic people (yes I am stereotyping).

Next time you are in a Marriott, you can whisk your self back to biblical times... you know 1823 :)

Keep telling yourself that. The talent gap isn't quite as big as many of y'all make it out to be. This isn't the BYU of the WAC/MWC days. We have enough talent to give LSU all you can handle if your team overlooks us, just like with Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

Upon what do you base your belief that your talent level is good enough to beat LSU? LSU's recruiting classes are always ranked in the top 10 and LSU currently has 58 players on an NFL roster versus 18 for BYU.

Comparing BYU to Wisconsin and Notre Dame is a red herring for the same reasons. Not to mention Wisconsin and Notre Dame play a much tougher schedule annually and are accustomed to a higher level of competition.

We lose players to the draft every single year and with Les Miles sometimes it hurt sometimes it didn't. I would say most times it didn't. His scheme is what really hurt him. If he were still coach I would predict a very close game possibly even a loss like @ Lambeau but since he isn't here, it shall be a good game from the Tigers.

I could have taken the same play book from the end of the Les era and added 100 yards and 7-10 ppg more just by changing the play sequencing.

Cam is what did Les in. He was responsible for the offense. He didn't prepare the team to execute it properly.

I've watched several BYU games over the last few years and I can respect your confidence. I don't think BYU will be a pushover but unless our new offense struggles mightily, we will pull away in the 4th quarter. And if we are struggling, LSU will keep feeding #5 to eat up yardage and clock. I just dont see BYU scoring more than 16 or 17 against us and they wont hold us under 25.

Final score- LSU 31-16

I love when you fricks come to this board posting shite like this. It often seems like you are trying to convince yourselves of what you're posting. And it makes the victory that much sweeter. Close at half (possibly) but LSU pulls away in the second half and wins by at least 2 scores.
31-14 LSU

Wisconsin was a top-10 team last year. BYU well, wasn't and won't be this year. Sorry to burst your bubble.

You'll have to forgive us Tiger fans. Humility and respect for our OOC opponents really isn't something we do well. When it comes to LSU football, our maturity and intellect is at the level of a delinquent 3rd grader hopped up on Mountain Dew. We have some the best football players in America and we live vicariously through them on most Saturdays from September to January.....when they play well!

If you haven't figured it out, WE don't have a life outside LSU football. We are trapped in a future beyond our control and like Uncle Rico we could all throw a football a quarter mile back in 1983! So please do yourself a favor and forget about having a respectful conversation regarding our future match up with your BYU Cougars!
