And what if your offense can't keep your defense off the field? They'll be gassed and that talent will be negated.

By the way, thanks for contributing and changing the topic on here. Nothing like a little smack talking to really start feeling like the season is finally here.

Most of us expect a good game out of BYU. We know you guys will not back down and will punch us in the mouth. We've got talent and scheme going for us, but we're young and inexperienced, basically the opposite of you. We're going to make some mistakes in our first outing, especially on O. I just hope they don't end up deciding the game.

Just wait until the season starts, at worst it's a top 10 defense

Buddy... that's the norm for us. You'd be shocked at how well LSU's D has handled crap like that.

I love the chance to talk football with folks who have a good grasp of the game. Being stuck in Indiana where basketball rules, only person here is a 'Bama fan at work. Not exactly ideal.

And what if we hang 70 on the fighting polygamists and our defense completely shuts you down? I can throw out random hypotheticals too.

I think it's pretty arrogant for BYU fans to think that this team (especially our offense) will look anything like any LSU team we've seen before. I'm not saying that it's likely, and as a matter of a fact it's incredibly unlikely, but this team has the potential to be a top 5 all-time LSU team. We're highly talented at every position with extremely competent coordinators and great position coaches and a head coach who understands his role and is interested in fixing his flaws and maximizing his skill as an elite recruiter.

We could suck, but this team could also skullfrick y'all by 60 points...and I think the actual result will be closer to the latter. Just throwin that out there

I mean.........Petrino and his Heisman Trophy winning QB got 9 points on Aranda.......I guess if BYU hits 10-14 it would be a great moral victory.

This is gonna be a 30+ to 14-17 type game. O will come out with something to prove like the Mizzou game last year. It's gonna get nasty quick.

But hey, glad to see a few BYU fans on the interwebs. I'm sure Joseph Smith would wouldn't agree with it......but hell, Joseph Smith made up a religion that yall follow

I'm pretty sure the last time BYU faced a Dave Aranda defense they scored a whopping six points .

And that was with Aranda working with the mighty talent he inherited at Utah State

Yeah, against a BYU offense playing a backup, true freshman QB that proved to be the worst offense in our history. The OC was canned after the year and wasn't picked up by even a high school team. Been out of coaching ever since.

And oh yeah, we won that game 6-3.

BYU boi,
I like your panache.
It has been a tall task to find decent football talk here in SLC. on the other hand, you have done your homework and you will talk a little shite too.
By goodness, I like you. You make college football more fun.

Keep telling yourself that. The talent gap isn't quite as big as many of y'all make it out to be. This isn't the BYU of the WAC/MWC days. We have enough talent to give LSU all you can handle if your team overlooks us, just like with Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

Are you calling BYU a top 10 team nationally?

You're underselling LSU's talent. Go watch the Wisconsin 2016 game and see LSU's defense wear down after the offense couldn't sustain a drive to say their lives. Or watch the defense collapse against Notre Dame in 2014 when our DC had already signed on with Texas A&M.

I'll give BYU for beating a team like Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs weren't very good last year at all. They got into a dogfight with UMASS after all. And yes, they gave LSU a fight in Tiger Stadium after the offense failed to put them away in the second half. It happened all the time under Miles and actually happened the year before against Mississippi State.

Under Orgeron in 2016 the offense opened up and LSU actually blew out teams like Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas A&M as they should. Under Canada the offense should be even more lethal.

I don't expect the defense to drop off much even with the loss of such great players. There's just that much talent on that side of the ball. The most amount of drop off I could see would be like the 2012 defense after the 2011 defense.

In the end, BYU will fight their tails off and put on a great show. I think the Tigers' defense will be too much and the offense will be able to score enough (I suspect a fair amount of field goals) to keep the game out of reach.
