Sorry sallee. You are reaching with this cfb evolving shite. Yeah it happens, but it's not like a 1 year deal or an overnight thing. The basics still hold true. If you can run the ball and stop the run, you will go far.

Chavis left for money, any other reason you post is being disingenuous.

LSUs pass d ranked 12th in the sec last year, so yes, the defense was a problem.

Please quit running here to post what that guy says. No one had ever heard his name before he started dogging LSU, and now hes trying to make his name off of it and yall are playing into his hands. When everyone gets up in arms and running to see what he's said now it's exactly what he wants. In todays media environment no one cares if you have talent or are even correct, they just want to move the needle. Just ignore what he says and don't give him the clicks

His comments are interesting. and LSU plays better with a chip on their shoulder. ...Sallee don't bother me.

He applies blanket logic to defenses "being just enough" to support his slight/projection on LSU's offense and why he thinks they'll be 5th.

Fact is, its the defensive philosophy and its application according to opponent. In 2011, WVU put up impressive yards/stats, but the defense was tailored for them. Without that defense adaption, we lose. Steele's strategy was blown to hell versus UA, Ark, and Ole Miss......do you think for a minute Aranda is going to preform the same? AND, with a better defensive performance, it will absolutely provide more opportunity for offensive success.

Guy is backing into his own prognostication.....

People come here to peddle their no talent articles/blogs/podcast/etc all the time. I'm beginning to think the post about this guy are all inside jobs to drive web traffic.

Miles ain't changing what? Being a run first team? No shite. But, yet he still puts asswhippings on teams that run the fricking spread.

Has anyone figured out who Barry Sally is? I keep seeing people posting his drivel, but I've never heard of the guy outside of this board. What makes him relevant enough that anyone should care what he says?

Just wanted to say, "THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A POST". Very well done, Dogger.

Meh, its always a crap shoot. Obviously, I think LSU will be top 3 in the SEC, top 1 or 2 on the SEC West. Loaded with talented upperclassmen, depth at most all positions. Slight improvement at QB and we can make a BIG run.

because a dramatic improvement is virtually impossible at LSU

This statement is just fricking asinine.

quote:

I know Kevin Steele isn't well liked, but 347.2 YPG and an 0.58 TO margin should be enough defense in this day and age of CFB. I know the PPG and YPP isn't up to LSU standards, but that's exactly the problem—LSU standards haven't evolved with CFB the way that other schools have.

No it isn't enough. Lowering your standards for what your defense can/should accomplish isn't "evolution." And we don't have to expect sub par defensive performance because it's the new norm in college football.

quote:

Just enough defense wins championships nowadays

Tell that to Bama.

quote:

and LSU's out-dated offensive philosophy mandates that LSU play elite D week-in and week-out. It's part of the reason (not all, but part) Chavis wanted out a few years ago

He just pulled that right out of his arse.

quote:

Because I don't think Craig is a good WR coach. He's a tremendous recruiter, which will undoubtedly pay dividends in February if the staff is still around. But if you watched Auburn play last year, that QB/WR communication was nonexistent and WR fundamentals cost them several games—including the 4OT loss to Arkansas which was one of ESPN's top 25 games that they've been showing.

So one season is enough to give you that strong an opinion? How about Auburn 2013? Or Fla State 2012?

quote:

Returning starting quarterbacks don't matter all that much in the grand scheme of things. Six of the last seven national titles were won by first-year starters and 10 of the last 14 starters in the national title game were first-year starters

So experience at the QB position doesn't matter? This guy is a piece of work.
quote:

It's more about the offensive philosophy at LSU, and I don't see that changing. LSU can't get into and win shootouts consistently

It's funny how short people's memories are. Wasn't that long ago when Mett lit up the scoreboard/stat sheet on that derelict LSU offense.

You know what the problem was with his team as a senior? The defense.

This guy is a hack.

putting LSU at 5th in the West with this veteran studded team is outright retarded

This year's team has a better chance to finish 5th in the country than 5th in the SEC.

This year's offense is going to be explosive. 37.5 PPG minimum. Scoff all you want.

LSU's offense was better than Alabama's last year and they run very similar systems. Didn't Alabama win the national championship last year?

I agree. I think at worst LSU loses one game, honestly. This team is STACKED throughout the entire lineup with talent and experience. I'm telling you, this team is going to absolutely murder virtually the entire schedule this season. It'll be 2011 with a better finish.

I forgot to mention that he has LSU at 5th in the west, you know how many times LSU has finished that low under Miles? Exactly once.

He made an absurd prediction that is neither supported by historic performance nor expected production. So now he's trying to spin a web of bullshite to make himself look better.

It's ridiculous, beat tamu, playing like tamu? Les has won 5 straight against those turds. He's 8-3 vs Auburn.

What's funny is LSU is changing its defense to be closer to what bama runs. So beat bama by playing like bama? Or does bama beat ole miss by playing like ole miss?
