I will give it to Bama, their defense is stout, but it is annoying when they try to compare them to LSU. They play a very different style of defense than LSU and LSU has played MUCH better offensive competition.

As Todd McShay said, and I agree, LSU has gotten much better offensively since the Bama game. Bama has not really progressed or digressed since that time.

I think by the time this game comes around Nicky is going to be a basket case. He probably won't sleep the whole week before the game. He will go into the game all tight assed and since most teams are a reflection of their coach I think the team will also play tight, afraid to make a mistake so they don't feel the "Wrath of lil Nicky Saban.". The Tigers will play loose and with swagger as they have all year. I think that playing them already, and beating them, takes the uncertainty away and gives us even more confidence which will make us play even better. Don't be surprised if the Tigers win by 10+.

Wow! Same winning pct as Miles. One of those Saban victories was vs a Garret Gilbert QB'd team.

I was at the Cap One Bowl loss to Iowa. It still makes me want to punch Saban in the mouth.

He will have over 6 weeks to prepare, if you lose after preparing for 1 game for 6 weeks

Giving an obsessive/compulsive like Saban extra time to compare is like giving Captain Queeg an extra helping of strawberries.

And just like Captain Queeg... with Saban, it's ALWAYS someone else's fault.

Before they played Utah in the Sugar Bowl, all the analysts were talking non-stop about how Saban would have his team prepared with the extra time. Having seen Saban's teams struggle against inferior teams after open dates and in bowl games through the years, I just shook my head. Miles is a much better bowl coach,

I agree. LSU is in Saban's head because he coached here and as soon as he left, regretted doing so. He got back into the college game at a place that is loving him yet has a cult hero that casts a huge shadow over Saban. Funny how the houndstooth craze in every item in Tuscaloosa started to take off about the time they hired Saban. That, in itself, is a reminder to Saban that there was someone much bigger than him and he will never be as great as that man while he is there.
In our worst year with Miles, we went into overtime with the gumps. Miles has the psychological edge over Saban in this rivalry.

Extra time really does not seem to help Saban teams much. That turd of a loss to Florida in 2003 was with 2 weeks of preparation. The next year we nearly lost to facking Troy after a bye. Saban is obviously a good coach but it is interesting that his record after time off is spotty.

No matter if Lsu wins again, the Gumps will say what they did the first time, WE BEAT OURSELVES! As I live among them, after the first game I just put on my Howdy Dodie smile & they went MAD!

My personal theory is that extra time actually hurts Saban.

Week over week, one of Saban's biggest edges is his ability to out work and be more efficient than other coaches. Eating lunch at their desk, working 120-140 hour weeks, etc.

In a single week this is a huge advantage, but over 2 weeks this edge gets diluted. Over a month, it almost has no effect at all.

Just my thoughts though.

The only bowl game Les has lost at LSU was in 6 inches of mud. Neutralized our strengths. I have a lot of faith in our coach when given time. Especially with this talent.
