That had absolutely nothing to do with what I quoted or my post.

I haven't made a single comment about Jones

Jones > Russell

Russell is the most gifted QB we ever had but Jones was the best overall IMO

Hodson is #1. Anyone who disagrees is dumb and/or under 30 years old.

I had him top 2. Probably behind bert jones

Sounds reasonable

I didn't see Jones play because I wasn't alive then

JR in his junior season played the best full season of ball I've seen from an LSU QB.

If we had 2006 JR going into this season we'd be favored to beat everyone including Bama by double digits

Hodson was a Heisman candidate. Just go back and look at the coaching situation, personnel losses, etc. before you comment in the future.
I love how you little kids like to pull stats. It's the eye ball test that makes a difference.
JR was miserable against AU on the road regardless of the fathom call on Brandon. JR had 3 first round freakin receivers.

We had Tony Moss. Harvey Williams. We sucked at coaching and talent.
Stupid people gonna be stupid.

Omg seeing stats like that it's hard for me to remember what it was like to have a passing game besides 2013 with Mett,OBJ,& Jarvis.

Yeah college defenses are far more advanced than during Hodson's tenure.

And offenses have had all the rule changes in their favor. Every single player admits it. No brainer. Offenses have advanced way more the last 50 years.
I'll agree that the defenses were tougher in Hodson's time. Simply put, you could do a lot of things in coverage that would now be penalties.
Nowadays, you would have to be a Patrick Peterson to be able to play man-to-man and not get roasted. Back in the 80's, you could still make some "incidental" contact and it was not only legal, it was expected.
Back then, your safety could blow a guy up over the middle, and it was a great play. Now, it's a 15 yd penalty and an ejection.

I'm pretty sure a lot of older QBs and offensive coaches have remarked on how much easier it is to find people running free.

Someone commented about Jamarcus falling down at the slightest touch; I seem to remember him vs Tennessee (I think), just standing in the pocket as a blitzing db bounced off of him, before throwing a pass.

Well of course.

But I would settle for a better offensive coaching philosophy or a new OC with full control. (won't happen with Les now though)

I was watching Jamarcus in the Sugar Bowl and there were times he wasn't exactly spectacular.. could have easily had a couple turnovers or so on his own.. however, what I did notice was how calm and cool he played. He was very decisive and we had multiple 5 receiver sets!! How nice. Oh and Les used the ol' fake fg.

Look how he just flicks the ball down the field

but seriously after watching that, Harris has the same type of abilities. He needs to be more decisive and continue to progress. JR had so much shotgun.. must have been nice..

I also LOVE how we are throwing the ball up 34-14 in the 4th quarter. He did wind up getting intercepted. but see it's okay. JR had multiple turnovers in this game and could have easily had another 2 more.. and yet we still threw a ton and blew them out. That is what I want to see so bad. Confidence in the offense and QB position. Even if we turn it over.. to have the confidence and trust to come right back out and score.

See we were up 20 with only 11 minutes left and even after an INT at the endzone we were still throwing.

Facts dont back this up.

If we are talking career then yeah you have astrong case for Hodson.but we never had a qb play as well as JRuss did in 2006.

HODSON'S best season he had a qb rating of 142.7

JRuss in 2006 had a qb rating of 167.

Granted Hodson had 3 seasons with a qb rating of 140 or above (epic)

And anybody that says JR was better than Bert Jones doesn't know anything about football.

I'll repeat my post from another thread. Bert Jones was better than JR in grade school, high school, college, and pros.

Bert Jones never had a completion % over 56%.
2 of his 3 seasons his qb rating was less than 127.
Jruss' worst qb rating was bettr than 2/3rds of Jones seasons.
Jruss' best season(2006) dwarf anything Jones did in 1972 in averages
Jruss has far better qb rating(27 points higher, and far better completion %)
Youre using what Jones did in the nfl as a basis for his lsu days.

Anyone that think Bert jones at lsu was better than JRuss at lsu doesnt know shite about football.

You said JR is the only qb to LEAD LSU to back to back 10 win seasons. Which is false. You could say he was the qb on an LSU team that won 10 games in back to back seasons. That would be more factual.
