I agree with chadr07. This thread shows how poor our QB history has been. JaMarcus had 4 future NFL receivers l, 2 future NFL RB's, and a very good defense. Yet, he still blew the two biggest games of the year.

Also, the 2006 schedule was not the hardest schedule in LSU history. 2011 was much tougher, and it's a crying shame we couldn't finish off the greatest regular season ever with a title that year that year.

Are you going to explain what JR fizzling out in the NFL has to do with his time at LSU or just talk about my mouth? I do have a very pretty mouth FWIW. It does many things ;)

I wouldn't say it was much tougher

2006 played 4 top 8 teams on the road. 2011 played more quality teams, but I'd argue that was an extremely top heavy year too

Putting those game both on JR is silly, especially in comparison to other lsu QBs.

2 future NFL RB's

LSU struggled to run the ball, at least early in the season.

Maybe we should have tried one of those NFL RBs against Auburn instead of repeatedly running Vincent and Broussard for no gain.

Not to mention the 2 special teams turnovers against UF that led to points

Where do you rank Flynn? Ahead of JR?

Why don't you all meet at the Hooters on Range and settle this like men. Let's say 8 pm tonight? Or are you afraid to throw hands?

we played 4 top 10 teams on the road in 06 yeah that is tougher or at least equal to 2011. Either way splitting hairs. A player that was the best in college football as a junior is only ranked high at lsu because of poor history? He would be ranked high no matter where

He was a real good QB... A great offense in 1983..... Hilliard and James with Wick was a great offense... Just ZERO defense......

Anyone that doesnt have JRUSS as #1 has a bias.

quote:

Joined Tommy Hodson (1987) as the only quarterbacks in LSU history to be named First-Team All-SEC by the AP and the SEC Coaches in the same seasonHis 67.8 completion percentage set the LSU single-season mark, while his 3,129 yards ranks second in school history ... Joined Rohan Davey as the only quarterbacks in school history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season ... Also set the school-record for completions in a season with 232, breaking the previous mark of 229 held by Matt Mauck. Connected on 18-of-20 passes for a career-high 330 yards and three TDs against the Bulldogs ... With the performance against MSU he broke LSU’s record for passing yards in a half (272) and tied the school records for consecutive completions in a contest (14) and completion percentage in a game (.900).

Yeah college defenses are far more advanced than during Hodson's tenure.

Russell was dumb as shite

Leaves LSU with single-season records in touchdown passes (tied Matt Mauck with 28), completions (232) and completion percentage (67.8),and qb rating(167.0)

He is 2nd in total yards.
2nd in career passing tds
3rd in career offensive yards
. Is the only quarterback to lead the Tigers at least 10 wins in back-to-back seasons ...

Yeah just stupid.

Jimbo said JRuss was one of the best qbs he ever coached. So ill take his word over the word of some football ignorant poster.
