um no, he's implying we need a running QB. that's why the word "legs" is used ad nauseaum in said piece.

Learn to read.

Doesn't matter.
Jarrett Lee is LSU's starting QB. Period.
JJ had his chance, now its time for Lee, it's his job to lose.

third I think. I just think JJ could have gone 10-22 for 98 yards and a TD just as easily. so if the results of the passing game are roughly equal I think Miles would plug JJ back in if he had that choice. which he doesn't. I'm not against JL at all so I'm not sure why you keep following me around claiming I'm proclaiming JJ the savior.

JL needs to improve an be more consistent.

Pete needed a story to compete with Guilbeau.

He's also implying JL wont get it done against Bama and other tough games. Hope he's wrong.

If JJ's legal troubles are solved. I would welcome him back as a backup and only backup quarterback, unless Lee gets hurt or totally blows up. I would see Les doing a flip flop of last year with Lee getting the majority of the snaps and JJ getting a series or situational playing time.

Give this JJ return crap a rest...he will not play this year, and as far as Finney, ignore him,..just trying to gain attention for himself...we have a qb, J Lee,..now support him or GTFO...

Lee is the starter by default because the starter is not available. If the starter is available again, Lee will return to his supporting role.

Any thoughts?
Part of establishing a strong running game is to have a passing threat that is credible and capable of doing damage. Pete Finney used to know things like that.

and rather have lee throwing it than JJ

Why? I honestly don't know what makes Lee such a superior passer and he hasn't done much to support the stance that he does that much more for LSU's passing game. The truth of the matter is that LSU won a bunch of games when both QB's were available last year. My best guess is that LSU has the bes chance to win big this year if both Lee and Jefferson play.

Peter Finney is absolutely right.

Nick Saban's defense will go after Lee on every play, as well as other SEC defenses. Lee's immobility and scrambling abilities is a weakness. Lee is a pocket passer but he won't be able to camp back there against SEC defenses. Lee looked nervous and shaky and it might be 1st game jitters - we'll see. Stats for Lee are what they are. Every QB has dropped passes. It just sounds like Lee supporters are making excuses.

I support Coach Miles in whatever decision he makes. He is a proven winner and that's the bottom line. I will support Lee as our starter and he may get better as the season goes on. Jefferson may not come back and if he does, Les will make the right decision.

Well, he's got several games to work it out before we go to T-town. Looking strictly at JL's play Saturday night, I thought he was fine. Not great - fine.

Most of his throws were on target. He made not major mistakes. The bad snap seemed to be Longergan's fault not JL's. He should have decent stats against N'western State if the receivers learn to catch in the next few days.

As for us needing JJ's legs: the only reason we needed JJ's legs last season was that JJ's arm was a liability. He was able to overcome some of his failings as a passer by scrambling for yards.

If the receivers drop fewer balls in the next few weeks, all of this talk will thankfully die.

JJ is getting hosed by the BRPD and it is a damn shame.

If it would have been just a regular bar fight with JJ involved it would not have been This big a deal!
But the guy was kicked in the face causing damage enough to support a second degree battery charge. JJ was the senior QB and supposed leader, he should have gathered his guys an got the he'll out of there! If u are the "leader" of a major FBS football team, u should act accordingly! He placed himself in that position

All I know is this. I hope JJ does take at least 1 snap this year, because at least that would guarantee that there's no fricking way he'll be back next year. Outside of some creative medical redshirting of course.

Finney was a good writer in the 80s. He's just an old boozehound still having to work because of to many bad marriages and bad investments who really dent know shite about anything outside Orleans Parish

Not if he continues to win.
Wasn't it nice to not have to sweat a 4th quarter win?
I know it was for me.

I said this earlier, for good or bad, this needs to be the last year of JJ.
Time to move on.
