I'm just hoping they don't blow Cameron Gamble's cover as a "kicker" before the perfect trick play is run.

You can't ban it from their friends, or from other bar patrons. Miles would be fighting a losing battle. The real solution is to recruit high character kids and continue to teach them to behave honorably.

The real reason to not punch a girl, for example, is that it's evil to hurt another person - not because you might get kicked off a football team.

The concern is not about embracing the technology, but controlling the how the technology is being used. For example, when the gun was invented, you know there was going to be a guy in history who had the first self-inflicted gunshot wound, but you didn't want to be that guy or someone you cared about to be that guy. Just sayin'.

Not every player on that roster believes in promoting/publicizing on social media, It does seem to be the norm now.

They are at a high school camp. I'm sure once actual practice starts for the team, you won't see these at all.

Not an issue.........yet.

Miles should ban everything. Just in case a student athlete may screw up. No more cars. No more phones. No more dating. No more drinking. No more fun.

That should help recruiting.

Said another way. Imagine the Rant in full melt down after a loss. Now imagine instead of posting on this board after 1/9/12 you actually had a live broadcast of each player standing at a microphone and everybody on the rant is peppering them with questions or slamming them or even worse trolling them when they are not in a guarded position with their emotions and answers in check. Do you think anyone might say something about a teammate or coach that shouldn't have gotten out to the world? Another example is the current LSU Elite camp going on right now. I watched a reporter doing a live Perisope feed most of the morning yesterday. I enjoyed it. Did the LSU coaches authorize it? Maybe since it's a camp. Maybe not since practices aren't usually open. The reporter was even saying he was trying to figure out how this Periscope thing works as he his broadcasting live. Don't get confused when I say a reporter is broadcasting. He wasn't doing it for a TV station with rules. It was just his cell phone showing what he could see, unedited. Now if Cam Cameron accidentally tells Brandon Harris a passing tip after he speaks to a camper does the constitute a NCAA violation during a time there isn't supposed to be contact? Don't know but you get the idea of why it could be an issue.

If you don't understand Perisope yet you might not get this issue. If you understand it you won't like how it makes every player, high and low character, vulnerable in ways we have never seen.

If any one player would be taken down, it must be a qb for it to matter enough for someone to want to ban the app. If there is trouble with a qb being brought down, you need look no further than our beloved leader.

:kige:

Just a matter of time before we see a live broadcast of a player banging some chuck or using racist or homophobic language or hitting a bong live then it's bye bye.

Yall a bunch of pussies. You can't start banning everything that may cause a teenager to crew up. If they can't be responsible, to hell with them

Am I the only one who wants the names of tiger after tiger who are on periscope? I do agree that Les should ban it but until he does I'm interested in what these dudes are up to.

You don't help young men grow by banning opportunities to learn. It's a teaching opportunity, not a banning opportunity.

This kind of thinking is disrespectful to other people's intelligence.

Relax. Nobody's holding a gun to their head and making them answer the questions they're asked and I seriously doubt that they're dumb enough to do any illegal activity while broadcasting to the world.

That's a whole lot of stupid i just read. You realize every function of this app is already used by the players with other programs (skype, facebook, twitter, video on phone)? But now all of a sudden this app has some new scary secret-leaking potential heretofore unseen?
