Periscope is gonna bring a Tiger down. Coach Miles ban it now

If you haven't heard of Perisope it's an app, like FaceTime or Skype, that let's your use your smart phone to broadcast live video. You can have hundreds of people or more viewing it as you broadcast and even view old broadcast you have done. Viewers can also type questions to you and you can respond or not. Imagine you are your own TV station broadcasting a live feed to whoever decides to follow you.
Here is the problem I see coming. Tiger after Tiger is starting to use it. Without using names several of the DB's tonight seemingly innocently sitting on steps broadcasting. People viewing their broadcast start asking questions of them about if they think Brandon should start as an example. They didn't answered but what if they did? Don't get stuck on that question just think about anything that could harm team chemistry. Freshman aren't allowed to do interviews but this is anybody in the world asking them questions. Another player is in the background on a cell and it's picking up his conversation. Basically, every player is starting to broadcast from the inside, giving the world a chance to watch every minute of their lives as it's happening. Somebody is gonna show too much or say something they shouldn't say. As I was watching it I was crossing my fingers hoping they wouldn't say something they couldn't take back. There is no delay button. It goes out to the world live.
Coach Miles needs to shut if down right now before it takes a Tiger down.

Don't fear the future, embrace it

Bama has an army of people watching and taking notes right now.

I'm not afraid of the future and I'm all about technology. But if you think what some people type on Twitter is bad, now they are broadcasting live from inside bars, locker rooms, etc. The message can't be controlled. I honestly don't think the players understand the power of periscope yet. I've seen some of them broadcasting their first one, talking like they think nobody can hear them yet. If you follow anyone on twitter you get notified when they broadcast on Periscope. Half the team has started and before the weekend is over it will spread to the entire team.

I can't wait for the first few morons to start incriminating themselves through this stuff. Hopefully not anyone associated with LSU, but this is going to be powerful.

It will inevitably be banned from use by players not just at LSU but also NFL, and every other school and pro team with a large following.
The question is will it be one of ours that makes the mistake that makes news that prompts coaches, athletic departments, team owners, GM's etc to prohibit it?
Hopefully one of Bama's players will be the example that everyone else learns from...

It almost sounds like you don't really care how the players are conducting themselves as long as the "public" doesn't know about it. For me the bigger concern is how the players conduct themselves rather than how they use social media, especially with the off-field issues that have occurred recently.

it won't be banned by any pro teams because that can't happen
but college kids you can or at least put really strict rules upon it. They probably won't, but I think the OP is right that someone will frick up on it in a major way

Next time comment that they should STFU and think before they speak/act.

Thanks for your post. I'm sure coach miles will read this and immediately act.

Hopefully the staff will try to warn the players about the possible dangers of social media.

@smash Williams, I do care that they act the right way all of the time. I also care that they don't put themselves in a position where new technology will cause them to act in a way that might be misunderstood, a way that will cause a game plan to be compromised from answering what they thought were innocent questions from a random fan, or they were baited into comment on an ongoing investigation that. Could harm the investigation etc etc etc.

Well is it archived?
I actually don't think it would be a big deal but I appreciate your concerns.
I doubt they are casting as much as you make it out to be, but maybe they are.. Either way it will probably get old after some time. Maybe it keeps them in check. Ha
