Yeah... I knew he faced the bottom. Why I hadn't argued that point... still not an excuse to pull the kid.

I remember that..

I mean Norman has a super human inning. Pitches under control.. 2 Ks out of 3 and then the other batter he faced he catches the ball behind his fricking back..

But got pulled for 1 pitch Stallings??

According to the box score and play by play he did face 7-8-9, but I still don't agree with the logic. He was one of the few who looked pretty comfortable, I thought he should have tried to ride it out for another inning or so.

I think he probably pulled him to stick with the plan of chopping the game up and if there is one thing I've hated about our pitching the last few years it is that. We do it so often we waste opportunities to develop starters and before you know it we're trying to piece together important games in the postseason or still searching for another starter in May.

There seems to be some confusion over who he faced.. Just answering the other guy.

There was ZERO excuse for pulling him..

But then to replace him with Stallings?

Been saying this forever and one reason I do not like CPM at all. Would not hurt my feelings at all if he retired or LSU found someone else. I don't think he's as good of a coach as a lot believe. I don't think he's bad at all just that he's not a top 5 coach in college baseball IMO.

Wait, when did Latz transfer? I was not aware of this. Oh shite.

He looks like a nervous old matron, wringing her hands cause she doesn't know what to do in the dugout when the pressure is on. Its embarrassing.

If this was the plan why was there nobody in the Pen when Person was bombing after he got his 1 inning?

WTF was the plan? And why was Godfrey in it once we learned this guys strike zone was tiny?

Serious question does CPM make the pitching change decisions or does Dunn have any say at all?

That's my bad then. I took someone else's info from last night and didn't do my own research.

Exactly. CPM will throw players under the bus without hesitation but never account for CPM's own coaching frick ups. Hey coach why did you not have anyone ready when Person walked 3-4 straight with 1 run walked in and played him yet again for a pitching matchup against the batter. He then pulls 3 pitchers that all looked like they were settled into the game and again, everyone but CPM could see Bain didn't have it but he left him in. Horrible coaching decisions. He has a game every post season where nobody understands the decisions in this world except CPM. Just look at Houston last year. CPM is the one who cost us in progressing because Houston should've never played us in a second game.

It's amazing to me this team even trusts him as a coach sometimes. He has absolutely NO feel for the game when it comes to his pitching.

The good news is he said:

quote:

Mainieri said at the meeting last night this team is the most talented group of players, top to bottom, that he has had at LSU.

He cautioned the big unknown is will the players work hard enough and believe in themselves enough to put their talent to work.

He said if they do, we're going to Omaha.

So pulmonary has to concede that they worked hard enough and believed enough in themselves to put their talent to work. So, the blame can only land on one place.
Just kidding. To quote baseketball:

quote:

ugh, well, it was a team effort, and I guess it took every player workin' together to lose this one.

PM is a great coach. Anyone that denies that is just not being honest with themselves. However, that doesn't mean that he is a good person.

I will say I have far more respect as a person for Smoke than I do Mainieri. Smoke was basically the only decent coach we could get at the time due to Skip's control on the baseball clinics. And still had success before a slide. Not many other good coaches wanted the job. CPM has success but I cant respect the man.

CPM is a John Brady type coach. As a fan you like the team and the success but know you have a scumbag for a coach.

Wait.. Are you a woman that is offended that someone compared CPM to you? Or are you offended because someone said that about CPM?

So, honest question, when do players get held accountable for their play on the field?

We have the luxury of being able to second guess any decision any LSU coach makes. But, there coach can't go out there and swing the bats, throw the football, or make a tackle. At some point, the players have to be held to some level of accountability for a loss.
