September games are generally adverse weather wise for many Tiger Fans. Temps still running in the 90’s and humidity through the roof. Not saying that’s a main reason, but couple that with fighting traffic, crappy opponent, University Restrictions, you have a recipe for lower attendance. Bring an Alabama or Georgia in Tiger Stadium at night on a cool October night, and you’ll see record breaking attendance. Just the way it goes, wouldn’t look to hard into it.

Why is section 105 on the west 15 yd line next to the student section almost always 80% empty? Is it saved for recruits just in case they show up? Looks like about 700 empty seats just in that section.

Seems like the only time Tiger stadium will be full is if it’s a top 10 matchup late in the season with SEC/National Championship implications on the line.

Tiger fans are kind of front runners that god forbid have to deal with any inconvenience.

The folks who claim that the crowds are being “priced out” don’t seem to understand the declining attendance really isn’t about price.

It’s about other, competing environments in which to watch the game. The living room is Death Valley’s competition, and the living room is free. If you offered me a free ticket to Death Valley … I still might not go. My decision to go isn’t about money. It’s about being in an environment I control 100%, where I can have all the food and drink I want, no traffic hassle, no irritating piped in music, and my whole family is there with me having a good time. It’s also about who we are playing. I’m not leaving my living room for Grambling and Southern at LSU.

The die hard fans have all grown up and have kids, jobs etc. People have more important things to do than pay $500 to watch a game when I can turn the TV on and grill steaks at the house...The heat, parking, traffic etc. I enjoy tailgating and have lived less than 10 miles from the campus for most of my life other than when I was in AZ. I am an LSU graduate and enjoy the game day atmosphere but I have too many other things to do. When I was in college it was the only thing to do and as social media has taken ahold of peoples lives things have certainly changed. The die hards are older and the younger generation has filled their time with a hand held phone.
Example -
My brother in law lives less than 3 miles from the stadium and its hard to make it to the game with kids etc. but thats just my story.

The 3 minute 25 second ad break followed by a kickoff, followed by another 3 minute 25 second ad break broke me. This sport is getting ridiculous.

Penn State has better fans than LSU.

It just means more.

How was the weather up in penn state last night? LSU attendance always sucks in the second half until late October when you can be outside for an hour and not get swamp arse.

Cool. Thousands of us enjoy going to the games and like being in the stadium more than watching on TV, but you do you.

Do you have a medical issue (or obese) that you can’t deal with the heat?

Grow up, sack up.

Temps were fine once the sun set. People here complaining likely didn’t go to the game. It was a fun time and the crowd effected Arkansas.

The expansion of tiger stadium shouldn't have happened. Upgrades, yes.... expansion, no.

You are missing playing at a time that makes sense when temperatures are what they are.

Did I criticize or diminish your desire to go to games? No.

This is a discussion about the macro trends in sporting attendance and at LSU.

I love the feeling of being there as well.

My fiancée and I had been out in the heat since 11am. After a half I decided I’d rather be on my couch in 15 minutes with no swamp arse than stay another two hours and spend another two hours in traffic. I’ve been to enough games, and my tickets were free anyways.

We were called out for having a weak crowd on national TV. I have found LSU fans are good for 1 or 2 games a year and the conditions have to be right. Meanwhile I’m watching games at Clemson, Kyle Field and Bama all packed. We gotta own it.

Some people in this thread have shown it’s not about LSU, it’s about themselves.

Other programs it’s different because it means more to them.

Judging by colleagues I’ve had, these are three of the weirdest fan bases in America.
