#1 overall seed hasn't won in a long time, so who cares if LSU is the #2 seed. No actually advantage to be the #1 overall, just adds pressure.
#2 overall seed hasn't won in a long time either.

15 years ago LSU played UL-Monroe in the day game on the first day of regional so it is common.

by the way, lsu only beat UL-Monroe 5-4 that day so anything is possible in baseball.

I'm not sure that your numbers are right there. I think that was 1999 when LSU played Northwestern Louisiana in the first game and it was a good match up because NLU had Ben Sheets pitching and Smoke was their coach. LSU won 11-4.

So counting chickens...we will end up on the same side of the CWS bracket with TCU, Illinois, and Louisville super winners. Correct?

Five from the big ten. Is that a record for them? Tournament expansion has helped them. Illinois is 6 seed which is pretty high for the B1G.

LSU will have to go 51-5 in the regular season to get a #1 seed.

I'm pulling for Ole Miss in the UCLA regional.

No surprise that UCLA is the top seed with their AD on the committee. I'm surprised A&M missed out with theirs on the committee too.

A. Ben Sheets played for Northeast Louisiana aka ULM.

B. There was a game that LSU barely won because NLU SS threw it away in the 9th.

It was earlier than 99 though, closer to mid 90s I believe. I remember listening to it at a friend's house on the radio while putting up a fence.

Yes it is and it looks like MSU might have gotten in if Maryland had won the B1G tourney. Ohio State looked like they could get an at large until the last few weeks.

Basically they were closer to getting 6 than 4.

I always like to see a few new teams rotate in.

Can't blame them. They had a nice resume. I'd take theirs over Moo State's.

Lemoine hasn't pitched since the College Classic. Out for the year with a triceps injury. UH has had some new guys emerge, big freshman lefty Seth Romero and a junior Kyle Dowdy. Lineup is better than last year, but the bullpen is not particularly consistent.

I can't complain about the teams in our regional, that's for sure. Since we're still a national seed, it really doesn't matter much, but I'm not sure why we aren't #1 overall. May not be such a bad thing though, less pressure and more motivation never hurts.

Ben Sheets was there when they were NLU.

I believe NLU did beat LSU in the late 90s during the regular season?
