That's pretty much it. Same reason why A&M didn't get a top 8 seed.

I never understood this argument. Isn't SOS already a factor in the RPI?

depends on what weight they give the SOS both in and out of conference...
RPI is just a subjective as baseball polls because humans have to give the various factors weights for the RPI

I think Aggies have a pretty easy path
Their regional is a joke and I think TCU is overrated in a weak conference. Plus it will be 75% Aggie fans there

You don't think they were good 2 weeks ago?

truth is I know a ton of people that don't care about baseball until the postseason...both NCAA and pro ball
stuff on this board just proves that fact

I was thinking of the whole season back in 07 and half of 08 where there were 2,000 people on a good day at the games.

Anyone that was at both ends of the day-night DH with Southern and Nicholls during Mainieri's first season deserves to be in the Hall of Fame

I think there were 900 people at the day game.

Who cares who's the #1 or #2 seed.
It may not matter that much overall, but they put the smackdown on the SEC. LSU was the clear overall 1, and only 2 national seeds from the dominant conference is questionable at best.

One year the committee says RPI is important. The next year it's OOC schedules. They may also claim conference record, conference tournaments, on a "hot streak", etc.
It's highly subjective and they essentially do whatever they choose or attempt to pre-determine matchups.
Whatever they claim...they NEVER seed teams in a "top to bottom" deserving manner.
I don't think they wanted LSU & Florida matched up prior to the final so if they correctly assigned LSU #1, Florida would need to drop to the #6 or #7 seed.
It's not a big issue unless ESPN calls UCLA #1 during their broadcasts.
