Another discussion we had last year. You rated Laird, Stevie, and Fraley at 75 then too. It's hilarious to me. What "scout" or even casual fan can't see/notice the speed difference between these players and even someone new like Duplantis? Do you know their times? Home to first, first to second on a sb? 60? Home to home?

As a casual fan, it seemed to me that Laird and Stevenson were in a different class of speed than Fraley.

Have you watched Duplantis? Kid is lightning fast, Fraley as well I think the both of them
along with Deichmann are top three on the team by far and would make a run against anyone in the nation.

...For that I grade them at 70-75.

Duplantis is easily the fastest on the team. Fraley is fast. Above average. But not in league with Laird, Stevenson, or Duplantis.

Deichmann had a good 60 time once... Doesn't mean it translates to the field. 60 time is only a small factor in the ratings. Home to first, first to second, and range factor are all higher.

Yep. Im no scout, but fraley should prob be a 65 of at best 70 on this grade.

I'm pretty sure Jakes 60 time was faster than Lairds. It was surprising to me also.

O'Neal was moved from 3B to 2B 3 days ago

Will you be updating the 2B section to reflect this?

I will add Lochridge to the backup at 2B to hopefully limit any confusion from people reading this as well as updating the backups at 3B. As it sat the only backups I had were Deichmann and Freeman both of whom are leading for starting positions at 1B and 3B. The only thing this will change is plugging Lochridge in ahead of the other two as the main backup.

I think a majority of the baseball followers will agree the key to Lochridge getting on the field is how comfortable Mainieri is leaving him out there. It is no shocker that it is much easier of a transition coming in at 2B rather than 3B. I also think Mainieri will do everything in his power to not recreate the 2010 fiacso at the hot corner which saw multiple youngsters struggle which in turn effected their hitting. My thinking is O'Neal will have an easier path getting on the field at his new position.

I hope this answered your question.

Wait wait wait...

Our best pitcher who's a preseason all American and a chance at golden spikes only has two 70s... Okay. Whatever. But no other pitcher has a 70 in anything. But overal??? 70.

The overall grade at the end of each position is based on the group as a unit on the college level, not by their individual tools.

LSU returns
Alex Lange 12-0 1.97 ERA 114.0 innings pitched
Jared Poche 9-2 3.05 ERA 109.1 innings pitched
Austin Bain 2-3 3.95 ERA 54.2 innings pitched

LSU adds (2015 stats from San Jacinto Junior College)
Riley Smith 7-2 2.96 ERA 79.2 innings pitched

There are only a handful of teams in the entire D-1 landscape who return a better staff than LSU. I don't feel like I'm grasping at straws with that grade what so ever.

What would you rate this group ell?

Based on your current starter at 2B's past history at the plate, we better have a backup that can hit.
