Is Valek not in competition for the Sunday spot? seems like a shoe in there until someone else steps up mid-week.

He doesn't have the velocity of Smith or Bain and I think both are ahead of him fighting for the Sunday spot.

Speaking of D1 Baseball, here is a new feature they're adding:

Former LSU recruit, and I guess potential future LSU recruit Ryan January is having a great start to his career at San Jac:

He'll probably get drafted after this year if he keeps up those power numbers. Would have been nice if he'd have qualified.

I know A&M has a strong staff, but losing Stubblefield will hurt them a little bit IMO.

Did he not qualify or did he just go Juco to get a shot at being drafted after this season? Either way I don't think he ever ends up at a 4 year university.

Crazy a guy who was a Friday night MAC starter cant even sniff a Sunday role here. I know he doesnt have the velocity but he still put up very solid numbers last year, like Poche though cant really seem to strike folks out.

He could not get in to LSU. I don't think it was a grades thing though. I think it was specific credits that he didn't have. But once that was decided, the JUCO to draft option became his number one choice. I don't think he ever goes to a 4 year school either.

I didn't say he wouldn't sniff a Sunday role, I hope you didn't take that from my post.

He's going to have a major role on this team as a senior lefty but I can't write in pen just yet that he's the third guy. Heck Dunn doesn't even have his rotation set.

Paul Mainieri hinted John Valek could be very much in play to start Sunday opening weekend. Some depends on Riley Smith's health, too. #LSU
