Which is why he has all of those losing seasons.

Which is why we are missing 1-2 more National Championships that we could have. I like the ground and pound but do it smartly and spread it out, pass when they don't expect it, and run from a 3-4 WR set. If that Nose Guard does not go down we lose that game and our anemic run game averages about 1.7 YPC in this run run pass punt stuff.

What changed at 1/2 was cam decided to go with more 3 wide sets to spread the lb's and safeties. Allowing easier reads and direct blocking for the o-line. Second, we knocked out their best defensive lineman and ran the ball at his replacement. third- we knocked out their best lbr.

That's a crock. Their line wasn't killing our oline. Their whole defense was killing our line. Had we spread them out from the start of the game it would've looked much better. It's hard for the oline to block everybody when they have the whole damn defense in the box.

And such a poor rushing resumé.

This is much needed with a Les Miles coached team.

A stacked box running run blitzes and DLine stunts is virtually impossible to run on. Especially with predictable plays.

I fully expect a solid oline showing moving forward.

A laymans view missed a lot of what was going on. But, spreading them out did help.

Exactly. It's like a lot of people don't understand how football works beyond the basics.

its really sad to see a freshman LT at Alabama playing and dominating better than any of our offensive line.

WV's line =/= Wisconsin's line. And while Robinson did okay run blocking, he whiffed on pass protection quite often.

Jury is still OUT on that verdict. Our O-line didn't start opening holes until after both their starting DE & Nose Guard went down on their already very thin d-line.

This has been mentioned several times and it's pretty obvious that this played a big factor into LSU's improved O-Line play late in the 2nd half. IMO

However, when AJ started makig a few throws in the 3rd quarter and Cam using more 3 wide receiver sets, the Wisconsin defense was forced to bring in the extra DB and run the Nickel. Now, for the first time the LSU Offense is becoming more balanced and threatening to take the lead. (Unlike the 1st half when Wisconsin had their starters still in on defense and they sold out to stop the run). While Wisconsin continued to stay in their Nickel Defense, Cam would just continue to run the ball right at them from different offensive sets.

I'm not implying that the O-Line didn't step up and play a better 2nd half because they surely did. It's equally important to recognize that Wisconsin losing their starting NG & DE is big when you lack depth on an already depleted front 7. Also, good playcalling by Cam to take advantage of the Wisconsin Defense in their Nickel with the 2 replacement D-Linemen.

The result of all these combined was plenty of daylight and green turf for Kenny Hilliard to rush for almost 100 yards in the 4th quarter.

Guys our zone read scheme is different altogether. I personally like the I formations, but it'll come together as long as Jennings can hit enough passes to keep teams honest.

This is the point for spreading teams out a little more.

Teams and fans are not fooled by the LSU playbook and will continue to stack the box and call run blitzes, and stunts because we are very predictable in the run game.

But we have hope....

I was puzzled as to why we were so scared to pass. Wisconsin often had 10 guys in the box all crashing towards the ball. We had close to like 1.0 ypc probably at some point in the third quarter. Our receivers were proving they could get open, but we insisted on running up the middle twice and then throwing some short pass or screen on third down. Our passing game is there, we just have to use it to soften the defense. Then we can run. That play action pass across the middle was beautiful. We should have been trying that some on 1st or 2nd down the whole game.

I read that grimes changed things up at halftime with the blocking schemes. simplifying the schemes.

seemed to work pretty well.

Have you watched this team prior to last year? Mix in some QB inexperience and Les' obvious preference for run first no matter the results and this is the offense... even in 2011 our offense looked like this in many games...

Hoko looked a bit lost in the first half. We ran to the right a lot and never had a push for the first half. Whatever adjustments they made worked because Hoko/Pocic looked a lot better in the 3rd and 4th quarter. I know Wisc has some injuries, but the run game was picking up before that.

The run game looked better because Jennings completed those passes on the diarse TD drive and we started to spread them out with our formations. On hilliards TD they only had six guys in the box.

Who would have thunk it. We used the pass to open up the run.
I guess les listens to the rant?
