That's positive in a way. If Miles does replace OC with someone more into the FB and power running in general, we must presume we will have drop back passers capable of hitting guys in stride, too, because skill position players abound in the region, and apparently not FBs.
FB is interested. If you look at Rivals or any of the similar sites, there are few FBs worth talking about, each year.
THere may only be a half dozen in the country each year, and you are down to three stars pretty quick in the list.
Compare to WR, which will have a couple five stars and 8 or 10 real good ones.
So... that style Miles wishes for is rarely easy to fill.
OC Crowton style maps to Hollywood and the NFL.

OC Crowton style is easy to recruit for. Its fancy and amazing when its working. As someone wrote earlier today, there is a problem when OC seems to avoid situations most of us would relish as a testosterone test, 4th and 1 on the 2.
I prefer to run the FB on 4th and 1, not some slow developing
pass play that can turn into a sack or fumble.

Fortunately for him most LSU fans have lowered expectations and don't care about titles anymore.

Say what? If that was the case then people would be ecstatic that we're undefeated and ranked #9 in the country. Folks here know the talent being brought in here every year, they expect championships!

I believe you are comparing apples to oranges. Gruden had one run at a championship on a team that someone else built. He did well in Oakland, but somehow lost his edge in Tampa. Tampa had a good owner, a good team, and a good system. I don't believe Pete walked into that situation. I just don't see the hype in John Gruden being the savior for LSU.

I'm not saying he will save LSU but to act like the guy is a scrub is ridiculous, especially when he coached for one of the cheapest owners in the league in Glazer. he didn't have shite to work with offensively in Tampa.

Miles will hire Gruden as OC and QB coach. (The word from local real estate agents is that Gruden has already bought a home in BR. Check out other Gruden threads.)

FACT! (I typed "fact" in capital letters with an exclamation point, so it must be true.)

The man is a fricking doofus of immense proportions.

BUT, for some odd reason, he recruits his arse off.

Couple that with Chavis who is going NOWHERE as long as Miles is here. He's not a coaching nomad.

Add to that the ever more obvious fact that Crowton will NOT survive to next year.

If Miles merely hires an Off. version of Chavis, Miles is here for 20 years.

it amazes me that you people think he WOULD coach college

FIFY

seriously, the guy is making millions to be a broadcaster. And he can get more than 2-4 hours of sleep somewhere other than his office couch while doing it. Last november, ESPN even extended his contract w/ pay raise to keep him in the booth with jaws and tirico.

There's a reason the guy isn't coaching again, and its not because he's a poor coach. He's an NFL guy with some manifestation of an elitist attitude and is not going to coach college. Anyone who thinks we will spend millions of dollars to buyout Les and then spend the money to outbid ESPN for their guy to talk him into coaching college football is beyond optimistic, somewhat retarded, and absolutely to how things work in the upper levels of football

I've made this point before. Bobby Bowden was not the coaching genius he's portrayed as being early in his career at FSU. He was more or less known for being a bit of a novelty who ran high school gimmick plays like the "puntrooskie." Regardless, he turned a horrible team (coached by former LSU assistant Bill Peterson) into a national power.

If he does that and stays out of the way, that's fine by me. He does excel in recruiting. But he needs to get that good OC and he needs stay out of the way!

This team is an offensive coach (coordinator) away from being championship caliber.

If Miles can continue to recruit, develop game plans, and stay the frick out of the way during the game.. I'm fine with him being the coach.

His next hire has to be a good one. Let's get a good pro-style OC who can work with Jarrett Lee/Mettenberger/Rivers and let's get this ball rollin
