The man is a fricking doofus of immense proportions.

BUT, for some odd reason, he recruits his arse off.

Couple that with Chavis who is going NOWHERE as long as Miles is here. He's not a coaching nomad.

Add to that the ever more obvious fact that Crowton will NOT survive to next year.

If Miles merely hires an Off. version of Chavis, Miles is here for 20 years.

I honestly think this is exactly how it will play out.

LSU loses 3 this year(bowl result not included)

Miles fires Crowton

Miles gets a coordinator more in line with his vision of offense(I always think it's bad for the OC and the HC to be of completely different minds).

Miles goes on to stay here forever cause let's be blunt, NO ONE in a superior position to LSU will be offering Miles a job.

If LSU somehow landed Gruden, Recruits would be lined up to play for the Tigers

No one can stop Miles from his idiocy. He still manages the practices. He spends time practicing running through the goalposts instead of practicing end of game scenarios!

He interjects his feeble mind into the game planning!

LSU will be out coached time again regardless of who the OC and DC are.

Look, I don't like Miles but if he wins 9, he is NOT going to be fired. I don't care if he loses the other 3 by 60.

We all know that.

So, this is the hopeful scenario.

This is an understatement. His public image is a disgrace to the players and university!

Again, I'm no Miles fan.

However, I think Miles having a guy like Crowton as the OC is like Spurrier hiring Paul Johnson as OC.

DOOMED from the start.

I agree. Get a good OC and tell miles to become that "CEO type" coach. Recruit, etc but don't call plays anymore

Oh, it can make a HUGE difference.

How well would Spurrier call plays if the offense he was calling plays for was Paul Johnson's?

The point is, you need a GOOD OC that happens to be more traditionally oriented.

They exist.

You would think so but honestly, not on the Def side of the ball as long as Chavis is here.

So, get the OC version of Chavis.

Look, I'm not trying to pump daisies up your arse. I think Miles on the sidelines is a pure unadulterated idiot.

But, this is how I can envision him succeeding. You actually can do this in college ball. Bowden got away with it for a LOOOOOOOONNNNG time.

We will win alot of games, but I say Miles never wins another West Title. Fortunately for him most LSU fans have lowered expectations and don't care about titles anymore.

I agree this is likely what will happen. If Les makes a good hire, we'll be much better next year. If not, we'll go the route of Carr at Michigan and gradually slip back into obscurity.

My point being, Miles and Crowton are as far apart regarding offensive philosophy as two coaches can be.

I think this is a recipe for failure 100% of the time. The OC doesn't have to be a Miles clone, he just can't be a guy who wants to run 40 formations and abandon the run even when it is working.
