Not valid arguement. The AP trophy came with the BCS Trophy that year.

uhhh, it didn't "come with" it. That implies whoever got the BCS just gets the AP too. WRONG. We got it because the AP had us #1 as well.

The BCS matters and the AP doesn't. I have heard this time and time again from LSU fans when referring to USC. You can spin it however you want, but I think the AP is worthless, and most LSU fans felt that way in 2003.

Of course, LSU will put it in the trophy case if we won it. So. Do you think the players will feel great about it if we lost to Bama in the NC game. frick no. Fap

The problem is that since there is a #1 vs #2 football game played on the field, the AP isn't a real title. It's a paper championship. A title that's voted on. Means nothing IMO. Whoever wins the game is the champion. Period. Maybe in the days when the championship was nothing more than a vote it may have counted, but not anymore.

If LSU loses and "wins" the AP vote it's 100% worthless IMO

AGAIN, it does not matter what we think, LSu will gladly take that trophy win or lose. it appears some here are too dense to even realize that the Ap is NOt part of the BCS anymore and have not been since 2003. They are their own separate entity and can distribute their trophy how they see fit.

better than getting nothing, especially after how hard they worked all season, and having to deal with the hypocrisy of having to beat bama AGAIN.

LSU fans tried to convince themselves of this because they hated the idea of having to split a title when they did nothing wrong. I hated the idea too, I thought it was unfair to us. But I'm not an idiot and I'm not going to convince myself something is not relevant when it is. It's almost like LSU fans tried so hard to convince the rest of the country that they just started to believe it themselves. The AP DOES matter and you can think it's worthless all you want. %99 percent of the rest of the country will call it a split title and consider LSU Champions as well.

you do realize that Alabama just got VOTED into the game don't you? The computers had them #3.

It's a real championship. You don't have to like it, or even believe it, but it will be one regardless.

then you would look like an idiot while the media and the rest of the country would refer to us as national champions.
some would, some wouldn't. i would agree with those that put the BCSNCG as the deciding factor.

Stupidest Idea Ever
LINK

As Stewart Mandel put it, no team has ever won an AP championship after losing its bowl game and this won't be the first time.

Can't believe anyone is actually arguing about this as if it's a possibility.

The AP was part of the BCS system in 2003. They didn't like the outcome, so they broke their agreement with the system they had previously agreed to be a part of and they crowned their own champion.
It was a completely illegitimate title in 2003.
Now, the AP is NOT a part of the BCS system. They have their own poll and their own title. If the want to crown a different champion, they can. It is as legitimate as the AP title in 1992 or 1979 or any other year before the BCS.
The AP title is legit. MUCH more so than in 2003.
Use logic. Don't apply how you FELT in 2003 to NOW.

Well said AlaTiger. It do make a difference.

This is a pitiful and defeatest thread and any fellow LSU fan who would acknowledge an "AP Crown" for LSU, if they lose the BCSNCG, is a hypocrite...especially given the obnoxious way LSU "fan" respnded in 2003. And the AP could then, and can now, vote which ever team they want in at #1...they were not bound by the BCS like the Coaches Poll was. Different in 2003 though, becuase USC was #1 in both polls going into the bowls (had only 1 loss all year in OT at Cal), got screwed out of the BCSNCG by Oklahoma, throtled Michigan in the Rose Bowl, etc. This year, LSU would have lost their last game and finished SEC Champ and #2 in BCS.

You play for the crystal ball, the BCS Nat'l Champ...not for being #1 in a sports media poll. Many schools can claim championships in obscure polls, but they mean squat. The winner of this game is the Nat'l Champ...the loser is #2...period.
