Nothing about the Qb's stated by CLM matters (regarding who has lead) - NOTHING

(except for injuries and obvious eligibility matters that are definitive).
Coach seeks to stay as vague as possible. Vague to the press. Vague to the SEC coaches and opponents. Vague to the QB's themselves. And that translates to vague to the fans as well.
In the midst of that, he will give everybody a little bit of what they want to hear, and when he does, it will be to encourage and motivate both QB's so that neither think they have the edge. It will also be to show (in his mind) that there was a true competition.
Meanwhile, his tendency is strongly to stay with the incumbent, which means that Harris must thoroughly out-perform Jennings in order to have a chance to win the starting job.
When Miles says the word "compete", that means "to vigorously engage into the practices and study and preparation as best as possible". Fair enough.
However, if both guys do this, and there is less than a sizable edge in his mind, then he will default to the incumbent that he is most comfortable with.
And we know that you cannot fully emulate the game situation in practice and scrimmages. You cannot simulate the game pressure and mental decision-making that determines success/failure as an SEC QB. Of course, this is the case for all teams. That is when a coaches intuition and judgment comes in....Or what he is comfortable with....
Tiger Nation, you see what you are looking for. Coach is the same way. Meanwhile, to encourage them both to work hard, he will throw out compliments to both.
In the end....unless one of them runs into eligibility, injury or team rules/legal issues (God forbid), Harris will have to DECIDEDLY outperform Jennings in spring and fall practice to out-right win the starting position.
It is possible, but very unlikely he will do so in Miles eyes.
So,it is highly likely that we will see Jennings trot out as the starter for the McNeese and Miss State games.
Coach is the man. In the mean time do your best to stay off the emotional roller coaster and wait till the fall.
The odds are the odds, but sometimes the unexpected happens....so don't give up on your guy, whoever that is.
Either way...and as always...

My guess is the fans will end up booing Jennings when he gets hurt and Harris wins the job due to injury.
Say what you want about Jennings but he is the game manager Miles loves and he does win games. When the talent and defense around him are up there he will win more games. I think the biggest thing going for LSU next year will be improved WR play both from a maturity level since at times Dural and Dupree were overwhelmed trying to get separation.
Jennings reads have to improve, if not, I'm not sure why you waste more time with him under center.

In the spring, nothing that Miles says has any worth IMO

This post wasn't necessary.
Everybody knows that no one trolls the LSU fan-base more than Les Miles.

He is just creating an environment where competition is the priority...nothing else.

Jennings started last year because he had already been in the system. They felt he was the best option to win games early in the season. Harris wasn't reasy having only been in the system for a few months.
I believe this year it's open season for the starting role. I'll also tell you right now, between AJ and BH, they know who is doing better. They know who is in the lead, as do the rest of the players and coaches. Not saying that one couldn't distance himself over the coming months, but what CLM says to the press is irrelevant. They'll play the best option to win.

it's so awesome when people feel the need to point this stuff out. I love the fans that can't let things play out but feel the need to point out what they believe are motives and trickeration.
If this many dipshits know what Les is thinking and doing then why dont we save a few bucks and hire an unemployed salesman to run the team?
Mr. "ive firgured it out and Les is just toying with us and will play his bff over the better player" has to be the most annoying thing ever since the invent of the rant

That's a lot of words to say absolutely nothing we don't already know.

So, True! I loved when Miles said in the press conference prior to the National Championship game with Bama, when people were asking about would it be Jefferson or Lee, he said don't rule out Mettenberger.

Saul graves was the best QB ever at LSU in practice too. Just was not able to do it in games.
Jennings will start for LSU and will all year regardless of what happens. He can average 100 yards passing and throw at s 30% completion rate and he will be the starter you can bank on it??

Most fans point to the Lee and JJ situation. But the incumbent didn't win the Job in 2009. People are basing their opinions on 2 starting qbs when Les has now started 9 diff qbs in his tenure.

So what?
You think he needs to let you know who the starting qb will be?
Hint: He don't GAF what you think..
