And what does this have to do with anything? Fact remains, Johnny Jones is the only coach in 30+ years to have the #1 pick on his team and still not make the tournament.

you geniuses need to learn that you have know who the replacement is before you go public the with the news , other wise you are just killing the coach and team in place !

Those stats never happens if he's fired after only 5 seasons.
Why would he have been fired after 5 seasons? He had a winning record in his 5th season. After four years of building the program that was a pereniel afterthought (more losing seasons than winning seasons the previous 10 and 20 years), he fielded a team that went 15-12, with an 8-10 SEC record, good for 5th in the SEC, and didn't have another losing season until 16 years, 4 SEC Championships, 4 Elite Eights, 2 Final Fours, and 15 consecutive post-season tournaments appearances later.

After four years of "rebuilding" a team that had three SEC Championships, two Sweet 16s, a Final Four, and 8 post seasons tournament appearances in its previous 13 years, Jones is in the midst of fielding a losing team (barring at least an Elite Eight run), currently sitting at 9-18 overall and 1-14 in conference play -- the worst overall record (so far) since John Brady's first season, and the worst SEC record since Press Maravich's first season (that was 50 years ago, for the record). No coach in half a century has ever touched the depths that Jones has reached this season, and the only ones who have come close were either fired immediately thereafter, or in their first season taking over a shambles of a program. Jones is on the verge of posting one of the 2 or 3 worst seasons in the history of LSU basketball, and he's doing it in year 5 of his "rebuilding" project, and nearly two years after his greatest single achievement of signing Ben Simmons, with whom he failed to even reach the NCAA Tourney. He had the biggest success possible -- signing the #1 recruit -- in his single biggest selling point -- recruiting -- and couldn't even reach the NCAA Tournament.

The Jones experiment has failed. He's had four years to recruit and "rebuild", and this is the product. Obviously there could be a miraculous recovery and and a Coach K-like future, but we can only consider the realistic probabilities. And they are pretty bleak. We've never kept a coach who did this badly this far into his tenure before, why would we start now with him?

looks like it will happen again this season with Washington.

They have the best player but are just as bad as us. Hell, there resume is worse as we've actually beaten a few tourney teams this season.

They are waiting til the end of the year because the alumni love Jones. They don't want any hard feelings. If this was Trent Johnson he would be gone.

Nobody said that and even if someone would, calling a player a bust before he's ever played a game is about as stupid as can be. He also looked like a star during the summer and pre season so as usual you're wrong.

Maybe you could refresh our collective memory by linking some articles where "Philly writers" call him a bust.

He's lying there's not one Phili writer who has said this much less writers. The first time he posted that stupid comment I went an searched every Phili website and newspaper looking for it and found nothing. He also likes to say Colin Cowherd says we should keep Jones. Lol I listen to Cowherd everyday and I've never once heard him even talk about LSU basketball this year much less Johnny Jones or keeping Jones. This dude makes up everything he posts.
