This is Fargas' 6th year as coach, her record is 93-71, the previous coach was 70-26. I am no very smart, but does not seem like progress.

Gonzaga had a couple good years here and there, but Few is the one that built them into a powerhouse. He's been there 17 years.

Nova, while a historically good program, was completely mediocre at the time Jay Wright got there. They had been to 3 NITs in a row, and 2 NCAA tournaments in 5 years under Steve Lappas.

Coaches are everything in college basketball, which is what makes that guy's post so ridiculous.

VCU, Creighton, and Wichita St arent good because of any "program strength". UConn didn't become a national powerhouse because of history, and Duke was a nothing program before those schools hired great coaches.

You're a moron. It's nowhere close to the best run we've ever had. 1 NCAA tourney appearance in 5 years lol Brown had us in the tourney almost every year for 25 years. Winning 19 and 20 games against the worst schedules this program has ever seen is nothing it means nothing and accomplishes nothing. And saying he has no talent is as stupid as saying Simmons sucks. He's had 4 nba players in 5 years, Brady had 6 in 11 years and made a sweet 16 and a final 4. You sir are the dummest human being I've ever encountered in all my years.

And those schools with those coaches didn't can their coaches after a few seasons. Heck, we invested 30+ years in Dale Brown whom many considers to be the godfather of LSU basketball and still have 0 titles despite having nba talented rosters.

They didn't can their coaches because those coaches won. And we didn't invest 25 years into Brown, he earned those years. What you think he was given a 25 year contract to start?

But his first 6 years at LSU doesn't even compare to JJ's. Try again

What are you talking about? What has Jones done? So far I've asked this 4 times and you havnt had an answer. Brown made 13 NCAA tourneys 2 final 4s and had a steak of 10 tourneyment appearances in a row. You trying to pretend Jones is comparable just exposes your ignorance. Try again.

Dale made the tourny 12 times in a row. Nowhere close to 25 times.

Maybe the context is being misunderstood, but I don't understand how anyone can really think 1 NCAA in 5 years is even respectable. When Dale missed the tournament early in his career, it was also a 32 team tournament.

Jay Wright made the NIT his first 4 years, and probably wouldn't have lasted another 2 years, but he has since made 11 NCAA tournaments in a row.

Mark Few has made the NCAA tournament in every one of his 17 seasons at Gonzaga. Yeah, good thing they were patient.

Scott Drew took over a Baylor program in complete shambles. They'd covered up a murder amd were facing 7 years of probabtion. By year 4, he was in the NCAA tournament, and has been for 7 of the last 9 years.
Good coaches make all the difference in basketball.

Yea I said 10 years in a row not 25. I said almost every year . And you're right it was a 32 team tourney. Plus freshman weren't allowed to play so it takes even more time than nowadays just to get a full roster of his own recruits to even be on the floor together. Trying to compare the worst coach we've ever had to one of the top 3 ever just shows the guys ignorance. I've asked this guy repeadidly to give us one thing Jones has accomplished and he hasn't been able to. He's either an alter a troll or mentally challenged.

Those stats never happens if he's fired after only 5 seasons. Those stats you mentioned came AFTER he was here over 6 years. Thank you try again.

And once FKing fired them, he could fall off the face of the earth. It would make the world a better place.

You sure are dense. Totally different times. You want to know how pathetic LSU was in basketball at the time Dale came on?

quote:

LSU was still a losing program, making no NCAA basketball tournaments and one NIT appearance (third place) during the Maravich Era. Brown took over a team that finished 10-16 in the 1971-1972 season and a program which had not been to the NCAA tournament since 1954 and had only four winning seasons in 18 years prior to his arrival.

In 25 years prior to Brown, LSU won 288 games and had been to only 2 NCAA Tournaments

Yeah, that's not even close to what Johnny took over.

Like I said freshman couldn't play and there was a 32 team tourney not 68. So coaches had to be given more time than nowadays because it took 5 years for a full roster of players to be together. Dunno why you keep saying try again everyone on here has provided data destroying your argument yet you're the only one who hasn't provided any facts to backup your statements. You've been repeatedly owned and havnt made one single point. I'll ask for the 6th time what has Jones accomplished?

His username is karralum and he's defending the black coach to a fault. This isn't hard to figure out

I don't get the connection to the user name, but I don't think this is a race thing, even as stupid as his posts are.

ETA: Karr Alum, ahhhhh, I see. I still cant imagine this defense is just based on color.
