Until they come up with a playoff system, we should keep playing cupcakes.

I'm with you, in theory.

However, their program has become such an embarassment that it's almost impossible to agree with you at all in reality.

They can't get 2000 of their own fans to watch them play a top 10 ranked team AT HOME.

I can remember when they actually had a semblence of a local fanbase. As much as I hate to say it, it's really sad.

It's more about Tulane wanting us to play in New Orleans.

I like seeing LSU play in the Dome. It's one of the few times I can see LSU play.

When I was at LSU we went 2-2 vs those jokers,so that's one reason I see it a little differently than most.

I watched some of that BYU game Saturday. Their attendance was just pitiful.A solid team coming to down in the afternoon ? No excuse for them to not have had 30,000.

It is a shame in someways. Tulane's support is just awful. I feel for their fans (as few as there are) that do support them.Tulane means as much to them as LSU does us. I was at the 2006 game at TS and they "may" have had 1,000 people.

LSU makes money off the deal Bertman never would have signed the deal if LSU lost money playing in NO. the bottom line is we will make more money playing mcneese and northwestern st at home. i just wish we would have played someone who is in our own division not some schools who will not even make the FCS playoffs

Why hasn't anybody mentioned that we will be opening the season next year with a good UNC team?

A lot of Tulane grads don't stay or aren't from LA though unlike LSU. There are many reasons why they have people in the stands but I imagine that is the biggest.

Guess you have no idea how good McNeese and Northwestern are year in year out.

Well, given how the game turned out, it probably stands to reason that nobody showed up.

This is really a pretty sad development and I think some of it has to do with the decline of New Orleans as a city, both pre-Katrina and post-Katrina.

Tulane's student body has always come primarily from outside Louisiana and much of it from outside the South, but there still seemed to be some identification of New Orleanians with the school and the sports programs.

I guess that is gone, although it was barely a decade ago that Tulane finished the season with a Top Ten ranking while LSU was still in the nether-regions of the SEC.

So things CAN change. After all, who would have guessed that Ole Miss would have passed LSU up one year after you won a national championship and we went 0-8 in the SEC?

They are consistently in the quarter finals of the playoffs and have played in the championship game twice in the last 10 years. They are currently ranked 8th in the nation, beat ULL pretty convincingly in '07, and always play well against 1-A schools.

The issue was less playing Tulane and more them not wanting to play us in Tiger Stadium.

...if we are going to pay money to these schools we might as well keep it in state.

This strikes me as one of the most absurd statements that is made here regularly.

If we play Tulane and pay them 400K or alabama plays tulane and pays them 400K Tulane still has 400K.

If we play tulane and pay them 400K or we play Troy and pay them 400K we still don't have 400K.

Money is fungible, LSU dollars aren't special Tulane, Tech, ULL, mcNeese still get paid and we still pay someone.

Dollars don't stay or leave the state the small state schools play the same number of games and get the same number of rent a wins dollars doesn't matter where they come form and we still pay out the same number of home games.
