re: No matter the end result of this season we NEED to beat BAMA

Russel Shepard was a 5 star QB recruit. Not only could he not compete at his QB position at LSU, a school known for it's lack luster qb's but even when he moved to WR he never made much of an impact. He was a bust.
Clifton Garrett was a 5 star LB recruit who has fled to Junior College. The jury is still out on him but considering we aren't deep at LB this year and he still he was looking to get some PT this season for him to leave most likely means he wasn't as good as his rating led us all to believe.
Tyrann Mathieu was a 3 star recruit. And in just two seasons at LSU he made more impact plays than a 5th year senior could have in his entire career. Hell, Mathieu was a HEISMAN contender for crying out loud. Literally one of the best college football payers I've ever seen play.
I could name about another 500 examples but I dont have all day to pound an easy point into your head. And that point is simple. STARS DONT MEAN shite! I don't care how many 5 stars or 4 stars bama has compared to LSU. I dont care what their recruiting class rating is compared to ours. Cause Not every 5 star turns out to be a stud. And not every 2 or 3 star turns out to be a dud.

Not sure how this is a debate. LSU is long overdue for a win in this category.

Better hope not, cause it ain't happening. Welcome back to the 1970s featuring Bear Bryant and Charles McClendon. It's currently 1975.

[]So going off how many stars a HS player has means SQUAT![/]
What makes Alabama more talented than LSU every year isn't that they recruit better (which is true); it's that since the new CBA, Saban has done world's better at convincing his late round draft prospects to stay in college instead of grabbing the money.
A 5* senior will beat a 5* sophomore most days.

I don't care about the 5 star wars, or the bad calls, or the Satan obsession, or the meaning of the Xs and Os, or the let downs, or past history, or the order of the universe, or any of that shite - just a bunch of hot air IMO.
I care that LSU beats the snot out of the red team.
Any red-blooded Tiger fan should feel the same way.

Facts like Miles having one of the best win % in sec history and the #1 ooc win % in sec history? Facts like that?
Or the fact that Miles just gave lsu it's most successful 10 year stretch ever? Facts like that?
Facts like Miles has finished in the top 15 8 of his 10 years at lsu? Or finished in the top 10 6 of his 10 years? Facts like that?
Whoopdee fuking do! Its time to beat Bama....get to the playoff....and make some noise. We've had the talent to do it in the past and have stepped on our collective dicks. I'm tired of the excuses and tired of a coaching staff that is either too blind or too stupid to make the necessary changes to get us there.
This is the year.

The shitty part is that in 2012 and 2014 we had them on the ropes

To start with give me any coach from the SEC West. They are all better X's and O's coaches than Les Miles. He's not hard to replace
And yet most of them consistently lose to Les Miles.

But your whole argument is that the talent level doesn't matter. You can't have it both ways.

I haven't mentioned talent at all. Now I did say that CLM can't out recruit Saban.

dukke v, after chilege1 gives an example of the questionable call against Vadal Alexander that took the Tigers field position from inside the 10 to somewhere around the 25 and resulted in LSU having to settle for a field goal, you state that "it's always the refs fault...shame...".
The ref could have called the exact same penalty on a number of bama players instead of Alexander, or he could have very easily called offsetting penalties (which would have been the fair thing to do and more than likely the correct call). But they decided to single out a LSU lineman to penalize. Why is that?
So it might not be a popular opinion for some posters in this thread and it's no surprise to me that you feel that it was a good call, but that was indeed a very questionable call that went against LSU.

quote:Once again that's not me. When it comes to my history debating talent, it's always if other coaches had the talent at LSU the outcome would be completely different. With that being said CLM is very overrated and has become Saban's doormat. He hasn't improved as a coach and is getting left behind. LSU should part ways with him before this hole becomes too deep to climb out of.
