Thank you. The thread should be ended on that point alone, as a rhetorical question.

We saw the progression in Jefferson vs Arkansas and Jefferson vs Georgia Tech. Jefferson progressed more between those two games than Lee had progressed between his first snap of the season and his last. In fact, I think Lee only got worse.

Same thing was said before JR's last season here. I remember all the rantabulous posters who thought Flynn would beat out Russell.

Miles: QB situation not settled

Translation:

-competition brings out the best in everyone so there's no need to name a starter now
-Sheppard will get his shot at QB, that's what was promised to him during recruitment
-Jefferson is the unnamed #1 going into Spring
-keep you options open at QB because both bring different skill sets and you might need that later
-you don't need to know everything

who said shep was going to start @ QB?

I see him coming in a couple times a game to change things up and give a different look, but not start.

if shep is starting, he's either the TRUTH, or jefferson and lee are hurt.

that was funny... flynn had a good game against miami, and everyone was in a uproar:

"Flynn needs to start over jamarcus!"

That's right, Flynn starting over the #1 overall NFL draft pick.

I love LSU fans

I agree.

The biggest diff with most of our opinions here is that some of you have seen all you need to see from JJ.

I havent. ... 2 starts, 2 good first halves, 2 very mediocre 2nd halves... If you dont want to take my word for it go look it up.. cant argue with FACTS.

The 2 games he started were MEANINGLESS.
They didnt have a fraction of pressure or implications that those JL started had. I dont undestand why some of you choose to totally OVERLOOK that.???

FWIW, whether you like it or not the score will be ZERO-ZERO going in this spirng and fall, nobody(coaches) is gonna say "Oh JL threw some ints last year" so JJ is automatically ahead of him... you dont keep score that way. thats not the way competition works.

As a SOPH colt mcoy threw 18 picks... as a JR he threw 6. Im not saying JL and CM are equal, Im just proving the point that IMPROVEMENT from first yr under the fire to the next happens, and to count JL out now is wrong.

which tells me that JL cracked under pressure.

I expect J.J. and J.L. to be fighting it out for the starting QB spot with Shepard coming in for special situations.

Due to J.J's lack of experience, the Florida's and Bama's of the SEC will try to take away what J.J. was successful at last year and make him do things he is not so comfortable with.

We will struggle at QB this year unless J.L. can take advantage of last year's experience and play to his full potential.

J.J. is probably a year away in terms of knowing the playbook and our receivers.

So if Lee totally outshines Jefferson in spring, fall practice we should start Jefferson regardless, based solely on Lees play from last year??? Wow.

I hope he improves, but I'm not expecting it.

reports are that JL does VERY WELL in non contact practice, but does terrible in most games and actually did worse as the year went on.

Reading defenses in the SEC takes time. Throwing J.J.--a virtual redshirt freshman--against the Florida's and Bama's of the SEC is not a recipe for success.

Our best chance for consistently good QB play this year is J.L. due to his greater experience playing against SEC defenses.

As usual, this board is full of racists punks that don't know shite about shinola...thank goodness we have REAL coaches that will determine the fate of the QB position and LSU football...not the bandwagon twerps infesting this board. Just go away and let the great University that LSU is enjoy the fruit of its labors. Good loyal fans know you a-holes don't REALLY give a shite about LSU...only your prejudiced agendas. Go find some NFL team to follow and leave the truly loyal LSU fans at peace. We don't want or need any of your negative sxxt anywhere near us. Go away!

I dont even know what to say to this. Its so dumb. Why throw a QB who did nothing special last year under the pressure another shot to screw a season over? Put in the one that played great in the bowl game, and made us look like a top 15 team, atleast.

I really dont care which QB starts as long as they play well and keep bring home the "W"s to Baton Rouge. If Lee starts and plays well fine. Am I going to be happy, idk, cause I think JJ runs crowtons offense better. Russell I think is better than both of them, but he young, inexpirenced and raw. I dont think he going to be ready, even though I would love to see him come out and surprise the world. It wouldnt surprise me to see Russell Shepard play the first half against Washington as the starter and then JJ take over in the second.
