what do you know about Garrett to call this move COMPLETELY uncalled for? All you know is what you see on the surface.

FTR, I'm not apologizing for the man because the QB situation is in shambles.

But I can't COMPLETELY blame him. I don't know the whole story.

That's the thing with most of you guys. You want to COMPLETELY blame the head coach.

yeah yeah, he's the head man....but frick. There are things out of the mans control. What if Garrett was just fricking terrible? Is that possible?

No, is it not possible just because Miles is stupid?

Yep, losing Garrett hurts. Miles better get off his arse and bring in some damn good QBs the next two recruiting classes, I don't think we even have one lined up for 2011, if that holds true, then we will have one sophmore QB going into the 2012 season, and whoever he signs in the 2012 class.

Maybe he should put Russell Shepard back at QB

I just don't see how this is any different than the situation at Alabama or Florida or Georgia.

What does Bama have behind McElroy? Star Jackson left, leaving them with only A.J. McCarron. You think Saban is catching crap about that?

How about Florida? If Brantley goes down, they have a punter as their QB2 then a true freshman. I bet Meyer isn't getting hammered over that.

And don't get me started on Georgia. Their QBs were worse than ours last year and now they are getting kicked off the team or moving to WR. And many of you would rather Richt than Miles.

This isn't the end of the world. Zach Lee is going to come here and now you've got a great situation to sell to recruits and/or transfers who you think can step in and play in 2012 and beyond. I don't think losing Chris Garrett has any effect on our team in the coming years.

Saban and Meyer aren't coming off 8-5 and 9-4 years where QB play was a major concern, either.

Unlike those who are willing to assume facts that haven't been demonstrated, or to make up facts, or to base conclusions or opinions on facts that simply aren't relevant to the situation, I prefer to withhold making judgments until I know what happened. I submit that anyone who is either fair or even minimally intelligent should do the same.

The other coaches you mentioned haven't had QB problems the past 2 years except for UGA. And some say Richt is on a hotter seat then Miles.

You are right that this isn't the end of the world, but it effects depth and competition. For exampl, what if Jefferson gets suspended for a game, and then Lee gets injured. Guess what? No redshirt for Zach. When Lee and Jefferson leave, it's Zach Lee's show (unless Miles can somehow pull off a miracle and bring in a blue chip QB). It won't be Garrett vs. Lee. Competition makes QBs better, Z. Lee will have no competition.

The positive here is that with little depth, Miles should be able to sell the "play immediatley" pitch to a 5* QB who wants playing time.

Don't get me wrong, I understand our QB play has been mediocre the last 2 years. I'm just pointing out that the situations at these other schools are not a whole lot different than our own. And if anything, for the next 2 years we can take comfort in the fact that we will have an experienced 2nd string QB, no matter who the starter is. Sure, the situation for 2012 and beyond must be addressed, but does anyone really believe that it won't be?

I don't know that specifics, but perhaps the staff believes that Garrett and Bailey were equals and letting Garrett go opens up a scholarship, since Bailey is a walk on (for now). Just a theory.

He would have had to sit the bench another 2 years and he's already a red shirt. Obviously he does not want competition with Z lee either. So the kid made the decision to get playing time somewhere else.

I'm pretty surprised by this. however, maybe Lee is staying and he's the real deal. Maybe they pretty much know who their next qb commit or two will be and are comfortable with they are at.

maybe c.g. realized the above as well. time will tell. if the above proves to be true. then i'm not upset or concerned at all. If we wind up losing lee and can't sign a qb in this class. then it's time to have concern.

never during miles' tenure will anyone say wow that was a good coaching move.

Fixed, miles is one bad decision after the next. There are a lot of kids on the team that miles offered scholarships to who will never contribute. I'd much rather have CG on the team than rocky d. Obviously miles saw something in him when he recruited him. It's not CG's fault that the moron who recruited him can't develop qbs. If CG can go play for Dan Mullens, it'll probably be the best thing that ever happened to him.

I'm glad you can come up with two examples over the course of 25 years. That's uplifting.
