It is rare when I agree with the folks on the Rant but there was no reason that I could see why he pulled Hilliard. He was pitching GREAT and didn't appear a bit tired. Hell of an effort wasted by a terrible coaching move and a bonehead play by the the 3rd baseman. The guy calling balls and strikes didn't help much either - UT was getting strikes on the same pitches he called balls on the Tigers pitchers.

He had to know there’s a good chance Coleman struggles early no matter what he says.

In 6IP vs Ducks, JC gave up 3 hits, 1ER and had 6Ks.

Guess PM has never heard the baseball saying "the game changes every time there is a pitching change".

Not going to always get what you expect, or what you got last time you brought in that guy. He doesn't adapt very well, or quickly. Always been a problem for PM at LSU.

I felt the last two times he pulled Hilliard it was too early.

Because, as we all know, pulling a pitcher who is rolling, in favor of another pitcher who was rolling a week ago, is always the right move to make.

He just never has a feel for the moment anymore, it seems. Like trying to bunt runners to 2nd and 3rd for his .140 hitter... Zero situational awareness. It's as if he looks down at his notebook and reads "if in close game midway through, bunt runners over", and he just goes with that.

And he makes up his mind that he's going to go to Coleman in this game, no matter what, so he does.

Exactly. And he never goes out of that even when it becomes clear the batter will get out and fail to advance the runner.

This is good coaching. Something this board can't recognize.

He must have thought Hilliard was showing to much fire after that last K. Wanted the team to be as depressed as he is.

Their pitching was borderline perfect all night.

Their pitchers got a much wider zone than LSUs ALL NIGHT LONG!!

Play Hilliard until he shows signs. He didn’t show any sign of fatigue
