So that’s a yes on a double and there walks then?

If milazzo catches the ball correctly on the second batter, he K’s the first two guys, then strands a 2-out double on the weak grounder to 3rd.

Instead it was a 3R inning

Obviously Coleman was first out either way. Im more disappointed in the 16 K’s, none of the UT pitchers were over powering.

Tennessee mostly won because they put the ball in play (many times weakly) while we swatted air or took the third strike.

Fielders choice cause he attempted to tag the guy rather then the batter at 1st

Play should have been to home. He wasn’t prepared

No. He should have thrown to 1st and got the out. That was the error I was thinking about. He had no chance at home. Shoulda thrown to 1st and got the out. Would have made it 2 outs.

If Coleman doesn’t give up some hits and doesn’t walk some batters, we get out of it. Instead it was a 3 run inning.

This response is why Mainieri is overrated as an HC. He’s done this type of stuff without solid reasoning his entire career.

And that’s why he isn’t coaching next year

Correct. That’s the point I’m making to Lester. Thank you.

He does this all the frickin time. My philosophy is to leave the first guy in until there is the first hint of trouble. If there is a hit, or a walk, then pull him out. Hilliard was cruising. Why pull him at that point?

And I stand corrected. Coleman actually gave up two hits and 3 walks that inning.

He had to know there’s a good chance Coleman struggles early no matter what he says. He can’t coach this team like a consistent veteran team. Only thing I can think of is he knew he’d have some early struggles and wanted to get him in the game while we still had some at bats to overcome it. But still you gotta squeeze what you can out of what’s working. Don’t wait till do or die time. Every game this weekend is.

Their pitching was borderline perfect all night. That keeps getting overlooked

Play was to home or first. Not what he did. Mental error but not a real error technically

I agree. Not necessarily an error technically but just a bad decision.

Just get the fricking out at 1st.

Play at home is too risky.

A 3B prepared to know where to go with the ball makes that play at Home but I get it. With 1 out the play to 1st is chalk

But that was a very playable ball to go home with it you attack it & set your body to throw home

Was the catcher even prepared for a throw?
I don’t know., but like I said, I don’t disagree.

But you gotta get an out. I don’t care where it comes from

Big missed opportunity
