We win, but this stat shows we often win ugly, ultimately because of superior conditioning coupled with talent.

This is impossible considering the coaches NEVER make second half adjustments.

I was curious, so I crunched the stats.
I only included ranked OOC games and all SEC games to throw out cupcakes.

LSU has trailed 63% of the time in the 4th qtr against ranked OOC opponents and all SEC opponents combined.

For comparison, Bama has trailed only 27% of the time in the 4th qtr against ranked OOC opponents and all SEC opponents. This includes Bama's terrible 07 season.

LSU has been an outlier statistically in the W column based on these stats.

Good job, these stats paint a clearer picture. If you, or someone (not me), could do the same for Georgia, Auburn and Florida, I think it will tell us even more since those have been our peers since Les arrived.

.

I did UGA and Urban Meyer's tenure at UF for comparison. I couldn't do Auburn because it isn't a correct comparison to compare multiple coaches.

UGA from 05-present is at 47%.
UF under Meyer 05-10 was at 31%.

We have been down in the 4th quarter to inferior teams

Which is why we have the most comeback wins against top 25 teams, right....I mean good god. You kids are fkn clueless.

I've tried having the argument that the "4th quarter comeback" record may not necessarily be as good of a thing

You are right, gd, we should blow every fkn team out completely....we should be the greatest of all time, no questions asked.....other teams don't have the talent, and desire to win like LSU.....we are different, we are LSU.

Our style of play has also arguably cost us bowl games (the bowl record used to be a record that the miles fans bragged about).

Let me see if I can get this right. We blow out a team in 2005, we blow out a team in 2006, we blow out a team in 2007, we blow out a team in 2008....we lose to a talented team in 2009 with JJ and on a field that was nothing but slop, we blow out a team in 2010....we lose to Bama's best team, possibly every, in 2011....we lose a bad game to Clemson in 2012 where Mett was very bad, and we win a game with a Freshman starting his first game ever in 2013...against a good defense. Wow.

Is this over the last 10 years? Would you mind posting the raw data?

Something tells me that it is not including 2005 or 2006....but even if so....who the fk cares....LSU has won more often than most every other program in the nation during this period of time....to come on here and complain because we were behind at some point in the game...is a fkn joke, and speaks volumes about the intelligence level of some on this site.

Indeed.

The glass is always full.

Sometimes it's full of air, sometimes it's full of water, sometimes it's half water, half air, and sometimes it's full of bourbon and coke.

Since Miles Arrived: LSU has been down in the 4th quarter 37% of the time

That statistic is very telling, especially when you consider LSU has played AT LEAST 50-60% of teams with lesser talent.

It says a few things, really:

1- Les's usually strategy of slowing down the number of plays keeps lesser teams in the game longer. It only stands to reason that if you have superior talent you should run MORE plays, not fewer. It's the same with ping pong or volleyball or anything else.... if you play to one instead of 21 you give the guy with lesser talent a far greater chance of winning.

2- We have won on talent and depth, not on strategy or game planning.

3- We have lost some games we should have won, including against teams with talent on a par with LSU's.

No it speaks to the philosophy of the coach and actually reinforces a narrative, both of which make you angry because you know its right.

I'll use the 37% number for this season. It equates to 4.5 games. Let's use 4.

Is it surprising that we could find ourselves down to four teams in the 4th quarter?

BTW, we've already covered two. Only two more to go. Law of averages.

There is only 1 statistic that matters, and that is wins.

Unless Les proves he can't get it done anymore he is going to be here as long as he likes.

I have always supported Les, but Ill admit if this year goes South he better bounce back huge next year, or we need to start looking.

Are you seriously shocked? He's been here 9.5 seasons and you're just now figuring out that Les' strategy is to wear the opponent down and beat them at the end.

I'd say yeah. For a program the caliber of LSU to only be leading or tied 63% in the 4th is not great.

I'm interested to see what, say, UGA's percentage is.
