Thomas was ahead of toliver only bc spelling of their last name. I think this means kt at cb and t at nickle

No they aren't. It's just a coincidence in this case. Look at the charts from previous seasons. At no point are they ever alphabetically categorized.

Is this true or are you being sarcastic.

Hey Jack Rabbit, a team is made up of more than just starters. Non-starters contribute to winning as well. I guarantee you that without backups, LSU couldn't win more than 3 - 5 games a year. That is not excuses, that is reality.

I never said we didn't need backups. Of course we do.

I was commenting on the posters statement that all that can be expected of a true sophomore is to "be in the rotation."

That, of course, is nonsense. Freshmen and sophomores can, and do, start and play very well.

Spelling part is true based on looking at depth chart.

I do hope that's just a coincidence and the "leader" is truly listed first.

By the way (and I'll admit I'm a bit of a nega) what's with the "or" nonsense. I admit I don't analyze depth charts, but is it common to see "or", especially the week of the first game.

To me, it just seems ridiculous. Name the starters, and if the coaches can't, then what the hell have they been watching the last few weeks of practice. True, I can see where some guys are neck-and-neck, but to have that many listed as "or." Come on.

And we all know that a backup who outplays the starter may leapfrog the starter the rest of the year. So why use the absurd "or." Just seems silly.

I used to work in sports information at a Power 5 Conference school and in the NFL. "Ors" on depth charts are not uncommon at all. Sometimes there are position battles that are just that close, sometimes coaches don't want to tip their hand, and sometimes coaches want to keep guys motivated.

A&M has nine "ors" on its depth chart this week.

It's coincidence. Random because it's at 5-6 positions, but they have never put it in alphabetical order.

Does Dwayne Thomas playing on the outside make anyone else nervous? especially against state.

Most don't. And you miss the point. If you have a true sophomore who plays himself in the rotation, that is a good thing even if he is not starting. In a great football program that should be a good progression.

Any good coach would prefer starting juniors and seniors, of course if they are better players. They know the system and have gotten over the jitters on the big stage. That is why MSU had one of their better teams last year. Juniors and seniors should play better than freshmen and sophomores, if your recruitment has been consistent. Now there is always the outliers like Peterson, Hawkins, White and Vadal, who start as true freshmen. But a sophomore who has played himself into the rotation is a good for a program, not a bad thing as you intimate.

I'm pretty sure based on what I've seen on here it's more of Quinn hating club than it is TQ fan club.

Regardless who starts he'll play as many snaps and catch his share of balls as anybody else on the team.
Just deal with it.

Ducre 3rd FB? Interesting that mouton already passed him since he missed spring ball.
Mouton is probably there b/c of his blocking. Ducre didn't block in HS, unlike Mouton who played TE and had to block.

First time in a long time where I looked at an LSU depth chart and thought the offense "looked" significantly better than the defense on paper.
Razor thin up the middle. Surely one of the DE's can move to MLB if needed???

You're completely misinterpreting what I said. I never said a sophomore "in the rotation" is a bad thing. Never said that.

My post is to dispute another poster's statement that "all that can be expected of a true sophomore is to be in the rotation."

That's what I think is bullshite. If a sophomore is good enough, he doesn't just need to be "in the rotation." He can be the man.

Now of course experience is good. But it's not required. And I hate it when it's used, far too often, as an excuse.
