Great post AlaTiger. and to you too Roscoe

Most of these ranters don't remember the roller coaster years, the mid 70's to early 80's and the stretch from '88 to 2000 (with the exception of few years). They haven't seen what losing is like and have become spoiled. Most don't remember past Saban or Dinardo. I am fine if somebody wants to point out weeknesses or strengths. What I can't stand is "The Sky is Falling" or no matter what the HC does he is wrong. We have become just like Oklahoma Fans feeling "Entitled" every year, that is just sad.

We have too much talent to put up with 8 win seasons.
====================================
Talent only comes to the top when mixed with a healthy dose of experience. JJ does have an abundance of one, but is woefully lacking in the other. Next year is the one I'm looking forward to and drooling over. I'm hoping for a 9-10 wins this year, and all of them next year. Is that unrealistic?

If you think we need experience to win then you can not say "next year is our year" we will be so much younger.
Hell we lose so many starters and players that contribute after this season next year will be rough with NC, West Virginia on schedule.

I didn't say next year is our year. I said it's the year I'm looking forward too, more than this year. We lose a ton of talent every year. Nothing new there. But JJ will also be alot more experienced, so will his recievers.

"looking forward to", "hoping for" are not definitive statements or predictions.

So, I guess you are saying that we don't have players waiting to fill these vacancies, and if we did LM isn't going to give them any playing time, and that we might as well concede defeat in next years schedule now? I don't think thats what you are proposing, so why the doom and gloom? Like I said we lose a ton of talent EVERY year.

Good post.

I have by no means turned against my team. But that is not synonymous with tolerating mediocrity (even if only for half a game) and under-effort.

I'll always hope for excellence and dominance and wins and championships.

I like Les. By all indications he is a class act, great recruiter, and a very under-rated football coach. I thought he did an excellent job of managing the game Sat. With our defense playing awful I think he shifted into a survival "let's not do anything stupid" mode and just win. Belief it or not that was good, real-time football coaching.

My only wish is that he would catch a vision of dominance on defense and demand it of his DC. And if poor defense didn't cost us a win against UW, it certainly cost us last year and unless we improve big time it will cost us again in '09. And that's when a real meltdown will occur.

(But I'll always be a Tiger)

In reality, I don't think fans are that much different than they used to be. Just now everyone with a computer and a phone can "express" themselves. And yeah, some obviously just like to hear themselves talk and/or see their thoughts on the screen. Here's my personal receipe for being a dedicated Tiger fan:

1) Watching game at home on TV - I feel free to yell at the t.v. for mistakes/bad play, etc. And of course I feel free to run outside whooping and hollering in my pj's when they win a big one. And even sometimes just for a big play. (caveat here - if you have a tendancy to throw things at the t.v. make sure something soft is at hand.)

2) Watching in the stadium - I confine myself to screaming as loud as I can for the Tigers. I'm not one that tends to ride or berate the other team throughout the game but I do enjoy listening to those guys.

3) On the net - yeah, I kind of limit myself to the game thread which has more of the real time feel and where their is a lot less "internet guy" b.s. And I tend to keep my posts positive in that thread.

Your assessment of my mood is as accurate as your assessment of LSU football, totally inaccurate and somewhat self-serving.

Well I think LSU fans like the first game of 2007 when we played Miss State and beat them
44-3 and then the next week we played Va.Tech
and beat them convincingly 44-0 or some score like that....That is what we like to see and feel. It's a true love affair for the tigers in a
perfect world we would never loose....

Is this really that surprising.

How many here were ready to can Paul Mainieri after the Illinois series.

A lot of the angst is due to the Malleveto backdrop and Chavis's reputation.

I think we all really expected something different.
