The shitty thing is, it's true. Although LSU won the game, it was basically a damn meaningless game. If anyone, Bama wins because they get to go to the national championship with an extra bye week.

I couldn't care less what delusional Alabama fans think. I'm in sales and think of it like I think of a big deal. If one of my competitors out works me through 90% of a deal, but I end up making a sale in the end, I win. My commission check is the one that gets paid. Regardless what happened in Tuscaloosa, the Tigers walked away with a W and cashed a check to the SEC Championship.

Delusional tide fans can say whatever they want to make themselves feel better, but you don't even get a consolation ribbon if you have less points than the other team at the end of the game.

9-6 - you only lost by 3
3-2 - Les only leads by 1
Good job gumps

I think you said it all right there. I can and have been a serious critic of LSU at times when they won, but I thought they were outplayed. The UGA regular season game in 03 was a prime example. At that time, even though I felt they could win the rematch, I did think they were outplayed in the original.

But Nov 5? I'm just not seeing it. Two things I keep repeating:

1) Was I hallucinating or did LSU not make a few mistakes and leave some points out there of their own? Two ints...one that took Bama well into LSU territory. Shep falls down for no apparent reason after the long catch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't RR drop a very catchable ball right after that? And Miles got very conservative at the end of regulation after we crossed midfield.

2) This is my biggest point...why do all the "experts" just assume everything else that happened in the game would have happened exactly the same way if Bama makes any of the FGs? Maybe Miles gets more agressive at the end of the 1st half drive. He defintely gets more agressive at the end of regulation. And oh yeah, maybe it's just my outside the box thinking, but you think he MIGHT go for the win in OT if Bama had made their FG instead of clearly playing for a FG once Ford got us inside the 10?

At some point he did, and yeah I had forgotten about Shep falling down for no reason.

according to Saban that's an advantage for LSU because LSU had one extra week of practice and game preparation time and also another game to play in which adds experience.

It sucks to boil it down some ways, but with those comments, and just seeing the coverage of the entire last half of the season...

It just seems that Bama didn't get in the game because they were the "Second best team in the country," they got in because they should have won Nov. 5th. And they didn't, so they get a second chance to do it. It's not like the differance between OSU and Bama is really THAT clear. And with the logic of Bama's loss and subsequent ranking, shouldn't Arky be #3 no matter what?

Note: I realize it's just the talking heads, but it just seems like an overtly slanted take by the media, that's all. Not that they really matter on the field.

That is exactly what im saying to all these gumps! i mean if you made those field goals who says that we are going to play conservative the rest of the game?

On many occasions bama fans and some others in the media have amplified the theme that on 5 Nov, Bama didn't play like Bama, Bama beat themselves,
etc. . . and this meme will continue to be amplified in order to hype the game.

Any LSU fan who continues to listen to sports talk during this run up to the big game is going to become very upset. The media will blow bama and continue to blow bama as the best team the best program the best coach, etc.

It will be nauseating for LSU fans, so, my recommendation is to ignore all national level sports talk radio and TV. They are going to pump up bama and diminish LSU. That's just the way it is. They love Saban and they think Les is a dumbass. They will never discard that template.

LSU left points off the board as already mentioned. If JL doesn't throw 2 interceptions ... take 6 points off the board for Sabama. They had every advantage and still managed to blow it ... in other words they choked. It is all about making plays at critical times. The stats are not relevant if you loose.

We have much more upside on our offense if JJ plays like he did against Georgia Tech and A&M.
If CLM does his thing ... we win!

The only way this gets settled is for us to win the BCS. We win by 14 ... LSU 27 Sabama 13

1 kick was in OT correct? that does not get them the win. LSU still wins with a TD, or at worst ties it easily.

1 kick was blocked correct? thats a defensive play

1 kick was flat out missed in reg possession right? so LSU would have went for a score instead of playing for OT.

am i missing anything?

or did he miss 2 fgs in regular time?

still a TD beats them.. so who knows what happens..

either way it didn't happen. LSU played and coached accordingly and secured the victory in IMPRESSIVE fashion in OT.

The reality of the situation is this:

Bama did, in fact, win on November 5th by simply showing up.

November 5, 2011, literally means nothing to them at this point. The media has helped put them in a place on January 9th that they did not earn due to their performance on November 5th. Nothing more, nothing less.

What did LSU win November 5th? LSU literally won the right to rematch the entitled/media darling that couldn't take care of business that same day.

Know your place, my fellow LSU fans. This isn't a knock on you, personally, but you need to examine this situation as a whole. More importantly, you need to know your enemy.

What I don't understand is how Bama outplayed us when turnovers were equal and our special teams definitely outplayed theirs. The only thing the talking heads seem to be pointing to is yards gained. Bama HAD to gain more yards because our kickers outkicked theirs and our defense set up one of our offensive drives following ... wait for it ... an INTERCEPTION off of a horribly thrown ball by McCarron that was returned down to the 15. Those "hidden" 40(?) return yards almost even the yardgae production.

LSU had three penetrations inside the 20 yard line where we kicked our field goals. Bama got inside the red zone only once, choosing to attempt three field goals from outside 45 yards. The one time Bama did get inside the 20, they made the field goal--amazing how that works. Just because Bama attempted more field goals doesn't mean they outplayed us--it means they didn't play for field position which means Saban was OUTCOACHED.

I do love how they fail to mention anything about the OT period. When Bama had the ball, all I heard was the high pitched beeping from the Tide having to back the truck up.
