I went through and counted the number of draft picks for LSU compared to a number of other big name programs during the Johnny Jones Era (2013-2016) . I based this years number of draft picks on the nbadraft.net mock draft. I also looked at NCAA tourney results during that time frame to compare success. Here are the results (I only put tourney appearances, sweet sixteens, final fours and national championships):

LSU - 5 draft picks - 1 NCAA Tournament
Michigan St - 4 draft picks - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 3 Sweet Sixteens - 1 Final Four
Indiana - 3 Draft Picks - 3 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens
North Carolina - 3 Draft Picks - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens - 1 Final Four
Baylor - 3 Draft Picks - 3 NCAA Tournaments - 1 Sweet Sixteens
Virginia - 3 Draft Picks - 3 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens
Oklahoma - 3 Draft Picks - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens - 1 Final Four
Wisconsin - 3 Draft Picks - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens - 2 Final Fours
Notre Dame - 3 Draft Picks - 3 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens
Gonzaga - 2 Draft Picks - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens
Uconn - 2 Draft Picks - 2 NCAA Tournaments - 1 Sweet Sixteen - 1 Final Four - 1 National Championship
Ohio St. - 2 Draft Picks - 3 NCAA Tournaments - 1 Sweet Sixteen
Villanova - 1 Draft Pick - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 1 Sweet Sixteen - 1 Final Four - 1 National Championship
Iowa St. - 0 Draft Picks - 4 NCAA Tournaments - 2 Sweet Sixteens

LOL, did he project the other schools too or just LSU and FWIW, TQ may not get drafted.

But we all know JJ has had some top talent, but his talent has been very thin, and then you have to coach them up and play D. We do not do that.

This just shows that Jones is a great talent developer and recruits should flock here to play for him since he is getting his players to the NBA.

It's not all about draft picks. Johnny is not a good coach and don't take this as a defense of Johnny. LSU has had top end talent since Johnny has been here as your stats show but they haven't had quality depth. Go look at those teams that you listed I bet they play 8-10 players deep and a lot of those guys might not have been drafted but they played overseas somewhere. LSU goes to their bench and they pull out something called a Darcy Malone. Winning in the tourney is not about having the best 1 or 2 players on the court it is about who has the best 3-10 players. LSU under Johnny has not had the quality depth to compete with teams which is why the second half of games they can't hold on to leads or hang with the other teams.

How about Villanova about to have 0 NBA draft picks and just won the national title.

I get what you're saying and overall you're right, but draft picks aren't really the end all be all measuring stick in basketball.

Some dudes stay for 4 years and become really good college basketball players but aren't necessarily drafted. Some dudes leave after a year or two and weren't necessarily great college players, but just project well to the NBA.

But I'm not arguing that JJ has underachieved.

No, but yall are too stupid to realize that instate players read this board and are doing nothing but hurting the program. Even if Jones is fired eventually, you should want the best players possible for the new coach to take over.

As I stated in my original post, " I based this years number of draft picks on the nbadraft.net mock draft."

You can find that mock draft here NBA Draft.net 2016 Mock Draft

This implies LSU has had a lot of talented players. They haven't. They've had a few good players and a lot of bad to awful players. OP looks good on the surface, but it's very misleading. Most of LSU's starters under Jones wouldn't get much playing time on those teams listed, especially UNC and Baylor. Most programs have a high caliber player or two. it's 3 thru 8 that makes the difference.

So what does that say about Jay Wright, that he can not develop 1 of his many 4 star recruits into an NBA player?,

There are NBA prospects, and there are guys who are simply very good at the college level (who may have a shot at playing in the NBA). It has been proven that you can win with either.

There are boards like the rant and fans like on here at every major school in the country. If they can't handle being talked about by a bunch of middle aged guys hiding behind a keyboard they need to man up.

My note to all recruits reading right now is be you and play you and be the best you can be and forget about everyone that doubts you, which no matter how good you are there will be doubters, and don't let what is said on a message board affect you.
