Apparently you don't know the diff between whining and acknowledging something that doesn't make a lot of sense.
Good try though.

Fans will adapt and make it work. It's gonna happen. I don't know why you people are up in arms.

Because it interferes with their tailgating.

And we all know that's what's most important.

I can understand why some long-time LSU supporters would be irked by this development. In scheduling a major SEC game for the night of Thanksgiving itself, LSU has created a needless and avoidable conflict for between familial obligations and devotion to the program. Some LSU season ticket holders simply won't be able to fulfill their Thanksgiving duties AND attend the game. Pragmatic considerations and logistics will make it impossible. For others, attendance may be feasible, but they won't be willing to forsake family and friends on Thanksgiving in order to travel to BR, tailgate, watch the game, and creep home in dense traffic. And of course yet other fans - probably a majority - will make the sacrifice and rearrange holiday schedules to sojourn to Baton Rouge. However, this sacrifice is entirely unecessary and is solely the product of self-serving TV networks. The game could be scheduled on Friday and Saturday, thereby alleviating much of the conflict for many LSU fans. Very few LSU fans, if any, will benefit from holding the game on Thursday night. And frankly, the alleged advantage to the program is pretty damn tenuous, as there is at best only an incremental difference in exposure between a Thursday night game on ESPN opposite the NFL and a nationally televised CBS Friday afternoon game or even an ESPN Saturday night game (e.g. Arkansas 2009).

(And of course I haven't even touched on the difficulties for traveling fans who would have to spend Thanksgiving in Godforsaken College Station every other year.)

The bottom line is that scheduling the game on Thursday night foreseeably inconveniences a significant number of LSU fans, creates a needless conflict between family and school allegiances that could be averted by scheduling the game on Friday or Saturday, and provides no real reciprocal benefit to either the program or the fans in return. The only identifiable winner is ESPN, which gets a marquee Thursday night game that the turkey-smeared, tryptophan-lulled pot bellies can watch from their lounge chairs somewhere in Mobile. Great.

Joe Alleva just said on 104.5 that he is not a fan of playing the game on Thanksgiving night. Guess he doesn't "get it" either

Playing on Thanksgiving is a Texas A&M tradition not a LSU one. LSU does not have to do this.

Does A&M really care that much about tradition? They are ending a 100 year rivalry with Texas. They are ending 100 years of being in a conference with Texas schools to join the SEC. A conference where they have zero tradition and will not fully fit in. Texas A&M will get over not playing on Thanksgiving and who cares if they don't.
