LSU # 1 D vs
AU # 1 O

vs

LSU # 9 O vs

Just out of curiousity, what is the best defense Auburn has played this year?

I would assume Miss State. South Carolina was pretty good too. They didn't shut ya'll down, but it wasn't the track meet that the Arky game was.

Miss State is 6th in the SEC with 332.9 yrds/gm
South Carolina is 10th with 371.0 /gm

Clemson is giving up 357
Ar-kansas is giving up 330

ULMonroe and ARK state dont matter

I love our defense but TCU laughs at the idea that they're not the top defense in the nation. Their defense is firmly number one and has played better offenses, end of discussion.

Having said that, ours gets the shaft routinely with short fields thanks to Jefferson (see Florida's two TD drives of under 20 yards).

It's going to be total NEVISTATION in Auburn, Alabama Saturday.

If we can just stop turning the fricking ball over so much in our own territory we'd be fine.
This is the key to the game IMO.

11th in Scoring Defense

While I'm pretty sure they take the special teams scores out, this does not account for the fact we should be higher than 11th, but for the shortest 3 or 4 TD drives that average about 8 yards each.

Our actual scoring defense is 11th. Our functional scoring defense is probably closer to 5th.

What happens to those offensive stats if you take the games vs. LSU out?

Anyone know how we stand as a red zone defense?

If you took the rankings in the OP and changed the word "defense" to "offense" and we were 7-0, Kirk Herbstreit would be walking funny and Craig James would not have been able to talk last night on account of Les Miles' Favre in his mouth.

ESPN is about ratings and they like shiny things. Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships.

We will see how these numbers stand up against Auburn, Bama and Arky.

All three will test this defense in different ways: Auburn - a little more unpredictable with Cam Newton running and throwing, Bama - Power Run and Arkansas passing the ball.

I'll take Drake Nevis,
Then Kelvin Sheppard,
Then Patrick Peterson....
For the Wins! Championship!

Except the discussion didn't include either the level of talent on TCU's defense nor the talent on the offenses they've played.

It's easy to put up great numbers for/against 2&3 star players.

What? We are the #3 ranked defenses. You can't diminish what Boise or TCU is doing. Especially TCU with the defenses they've faced.
