For the mound visit just take the trainer out with you every time…problem solved

I didn’t think it would make that much difference, but it really does make baseball games much more engaging and interesting. I’m now of the mind to speed it up even more.

Why is everyone in such a hurry for things to be over. Same thing with golf, let’s hurry and play in 3 hours on a pretty day so we can hurry home and sit on the couch
I think in this case it's to keep the action moving to hold interest and not so much to get the game over in a shorter period.

But with football when they say they don't want games to go over X amount of time, that's in the spirit you are talking about. We wait all week long for a football game so what's the hurry once we get there?

NFL games uniformly last 3 hours unless there is overtime. Nobody claims the games feel rushed and they are the most watched sport in the country. Part of the appeal is the pacing of the game is kept tight with fewer delays. College games were this way as well in the 70's and 80's, but that was mostly because there were fewer commercial breaks. I would love to see CFB change the stoppage of the clock after 1st downs and move to the NFL rule.

Baseball has been played for a hundred years without a clock and we don’t fricking need one now.

Exactly. If they want to speed up the game, don’t let the batter step out of the box unless he has 2 strikes or just dodged a pitch inside or something.

The timed mound visits might be ok, but 30 seconds is pretty short.

Way too short. It should at least be a full minute.

Batters fiddling with their batting gloves after every pitch was very annoying to me.

Agreed!

Didn't Jobert get called on this last year as well, or was it because he was not granted a time out & the ump ran him up when the itch was delivered anyway? As for CJJ's slow walk to the mound, anyone ever clock Skip on his bad knees / hips rambles to the mound, going & going back? Was it Cohen when he was HC at State who had his pitchers tossing to first 5-6-7 times an at bat or was it that ex tulane a-hole?

Hitting a perfect golf shot is harder than hitting a baseball. Pro golfers are even on a “pace of play” clock.
