Love the new timing rules

It's going to take some getting used to for me. I thought the rules stole an at bat from Jobert. Yes, I get it, stop doing that Jobert. I also thought the mound visits were incredibly rushed, which could have a negative impact on how well guys warm up to come into the game from the pen (i.e. more injuries). I'm okay with moving the pace, but not at the expense of quality at bats and pitcher health...and probably game changing infractions.

That a hitter gets levied a strike for not being set on time is absolute fricking horseshite

I expected a warning, but his routine needed to be reigned in and was with a swiftness. Much rather it happen game one against nobody than wait for it to be an at bat that matters down the road

I like the idea of having the timing rules. It just seemed to me that everything was rushed. All the elements for batters, pitchers and coaches could be extended a bit longer.

This. Didnt like it. The purpose is obviously is to bring more fans into the sport but I dont think this is going to help.

Why is everyone in such a hurry for things to be over.
Same thing with golf, let’s hurry and play in 3 hours on a pretty day so we can hurry home and sit on the couch

I think Jay Johnson was unintentionally instrumental in bringing about this change, with his thirteen 3 minute slow walk to the mounds per game on average last season

When they brought similar rules to the minors, folks grumbled but later admitted that they worked well.

My only concern so far is the 30 seconds for a mound visit seems short, with the clock starting when coach leaves the dugout. Looks like he can go over 30, but the 20-second pitch clock starts when he does. We'll see after a season if adjustment seems warranted.

Mound Visit Clock: A 30-second timer on a mound visit shall begin when a coach exits the dugout or when a defensive player leaves their position to visit the pitcher's mound. Unless the coach signals for a pitching change, the coach must leave the mound when (or before) the timer expires. The mound visit clock shall not operate when a doctor or trainer accompanies a coach to evaluate a medical issue. Upon expiration of the 30-second clock, the 20-second NCAA pitch clock shall commence.
