Correct.

what's expected of Malone & Odo?

Odo is pretty much just a big body, if you ask me.

I think Malone has a pretty high ceiling and will eventually adjust to speed of the American game. Dude can shoot and pass really well, particularly for a 7-footer. Who knows when or if we'll see his full potential, though.

I have watched his highlights, and a majority of them are him getting in the paint/to the basket and finishing there. He also appears to be very athletic and seems to handle the ball very well for someone his size. My question is, can he shoot from the outside? How will we use him? Do you think he is most dangerous getting the ball on the wing where he can shoot or drive, or do you think he is more effective inside? TIA.

He will likely replace Martin at the 3 spot and play very similar to him. He can shoot from outside, but with the way he plays inside, you want him to go inside as much as possible.

His mid range stuff is good. He isn't necessarily a 40% 3 point shooter, but he has sufficient shooting ability to keep defenses honest.

If LSU doesn't make the tourney this year, severe pressure will be on JJ.

I tend to agree. This is pretty much the exact type of roster that he likes to work with and they're all his players. This year will tell us a lot.

While I really feel LSU should be right there looking at an NCAA birth this season, I don't think hisseat gets very hot if they end up 5th-6th or better in the SEC. He has the #1 player coming in next season, and maybe a couple more 5 star recruits...

I agree he gets a pass at least until we see what he can do with Simmons and whoever else he can snag with him.

But that doesn't mean I won't be disappointed/lose a good bit of faith in him if we don't see pretty drastic steps in the right direction this year.

That said, I believe in Jones. He loves this university and this program too much to not give it 100% and do whatever it takes to make us a consistent player at the top of the SEC.

Well in the Sports Illustrated college basketball preview they had us as an 11 seed. Same thing for Joe Lunardi's first bracketology of the season that came out today.

Most of the games will be on SECnetwork plus on espn3.com. I think the quality was great the other night for the game.

And I think we definitely have the talent to be a tournament team, seeding will be what matter for us though, we need to play good ball all year and get over an 8 seed somewhere.

I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't make the tournament this season.

Same. Very much believe in him. I love having a point guard being a team leader like him. He can genuinely sell players on the greatness of the college, cause he chose it.

Yep, our OOC schedule won't give us much or any room for error.

Can't have any Rhode Island or @A&M games like we did last year.

Did he get in the exhibition game? I don't recall seeing him in the stat line you posted the other day.

Held out precautionary knee injury or stomach bug... Said he should be fine to play this weekend.

It would be fantastic, if Martin & Mickey, came back next year to play with Simmons. I know I'm dreaming.

I've never doubted Jones. He should make some noise now since every player on this team is his and all of Trent's recruits are gone. I see at least 21 wins this season and with our strength of schedule ( Texas Tech, UMASS, @WVU, and the early season tournament) ,we should see the big dance.

I hope stomach bug.

He wears a knee brace and it was said for precautionary reasons, but a stomach bug would be a much better situation.

Baby steps first. They will be a solid NIT team this season. Next year will be the big dance invite. Hopefully JJ will be able to keep the momentum going.

Oh great, your clownass is back. :roll eyes:

Well, he will get over a stomach bug in 2 days... reoccurring knee injuries could ruin his career here...
