We won at Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Kentucky and 2 games in Maui last year. Though the first two aren't really that impressive.

The Maui games were neutral unless you beat Chaminade, and as far as I know you guys just beat Minnesota. Your mainland game was in the Wal*Mart Super Center, no? As far as the other two games, well they were both sub .500 teams, so I agree with you.

no im pretty sure they won 2 games in maui. Of course those are not at all road games so I'm not sure why he tried to include them.

eta: i just looked. you were right. only 1 maui win.

Well their school apparently didn't recognize it.

Three games, 1-2.

He has the #1 player coming in next season, and maybe a couple more 5 star recruits...

But Mickey and Martin likely are both gone...this is the year they need to step up the program and start making the Big Dance.

By way of explanation, they won two Maui invitational games. The key here, though, was one was a mainland game against ULL at BWA.

never heard of a maui invitational game outside of maui to be honest. i didnt even see it listed. so i went to ULL's website.

Looks like Arkansas is calling ULL the wildcats on their website.

I think they just went to a format recently where there are mainland Maui games that form some sort of opening round.

ETA: the explanation from the wiki article on the MI

quote:

Beginning with the 2011 tournament, the field includes four additional mainland teams that play the Maui-bound teams at home. The four mainland teams will then play each other in regional games. The winner from each game will square off in the championship contest, preceded by the consolation game between the losers.

gotcha. in summation arkansas won 1 neutral site game, and 3 road games. which is awesome for them.

An infinite percentage more road wins than the previous two years.

Jones Press Conference Info:

Epps been limited in practice.

Elbert Robinson is learning the college game. Will likely start.

Quarterman has taken a leadership role and will be an impactful player for LSU this year.

Noone has outworked Keith Hornsby. Plays with an edge.

Rebounding issue was due to "attention to details". Players say it was an effort issue.

Baby steps first. They will be a solid NIT team this season. Next year will be the big dance invite. Hopefully JJ will be able to keep the momentum going.

Uh, that was last year, guttata. This team has the most talent of any since the 2006 final four team. They must become a cohesive unit and develop the requisite chemistry to maximize their potential but this team has the talent to go at least 11-7 in the SEC, 22-9 in the regular season and make a run in the SECT. They will make the dance this year; question is will they be peaking when they get there.

We need Robinson to rebound, block shots, and anchor our defense so that Mickey, Martin and the guards can gamble a bit. Thankfully, that is what he wants to do this year in his own words.

I'd much rather see the guards and Mickey/Martin NOT gamble, and instead play sound defense. Teams routinely beat LSU off the dribble or screen last season for easy buckets. Again, it was an exhibition, but Morehouse got the ball inside whenever they wanted. Mickey and Martin blocked several shots, but you can't rely on that in SEC play. They don't have to look like Wisconsin, Butler or Virginia on D out there, but they've got to at least pretend to care about that side of the ball.

My post wasn't normative, it was positive. Those guys are going to gamble, so Robinson is going to need to anchor the defense, rebound, and rim protect.
