We'll need to cheat at an Ole Miss level to rebuild the mess which will be the program post-Orgeron.

Replace Orgeron's with any SEC head coach's name that isn't Saban. Same results.

I would have taken Dan Mullen over Orgeron any day of the week. I still think he should have been on the search list (if there really was one).

Do you believe Orgeron will win the SEC as HC of LSU? No.

Do you believe Orgeron will win a national title as HC of LSU? No.

Do you believe Orgeron will win 8 games this year at LSU? Possibly, but after MSU, my confidence has been severely eroded.

Will Orgeron be LSUs HC three years from now? Probably. His buyout is structured in such a way LSU almost has to keep him around.

I hope I'm wrong and CEO proves us all wrong, because it will be to the benefit of the program, but I just don't see him being the guy to do it. Part of my gripe with Miles was that he continually sold us a bad bill of goods regarding changes to the offense. If CEO can't deliver on his bill of goods, and falls into the same trap of giving only lip service, he's going to fall out of good graces with fanbase very quickly.

Nope

Not a chance. Even if he beats the odds and wins 11-12 games and gets a shot, I'd have no faith in O going up against the best of the best when it counted. He just isn't a real leader.

Probably

This is the whole problem with O. His absolute ceiling is 9-10 wins per year....you know Miles' late career ceiling. He's lost every tough game as an Interim or Head Coach at LSU. However, his cult of personality, the good ole boy stuff....if he can churn out 8 wins this year and 8-9 wins next year....he'll be here for 5-8 years at least.

Editorial note: the standard he must meet or exceed is 10 win average and at least one national title and conference title.

Yup, and this isn't happening. I expect O's best is going to be 7-9 wins per year and maybe an SEC Champ appearance. At best.

The standard and reason to fire Miles was he was not doing more than winning 10 games, i.e., no more titles.

The only logical reason to replace him is to move forward.

That is the basis of the questions.

No one is saying he has to win at NC in three years, but he must improve on what Miles was doing.

So it's a good job to do exactly what got the last guy fired? Makes sense.
