So basically the LSU football program exists to make you feel good and so you can stick it to the Bama fans?
Is that it?
Well aren't you special.

The football program exists to bring positive recognition to MY home state and MY alma mater. "Sticking It" to UAT fans is a bonus and always fun but it has been too long. And yes, I am special. I have contributed to the Alumni Association for many years and have followed MY football Tigers since the 1958 season.

Minus the Bama part, yeah. What other purpose does a football team bring to the table?

Its to make fans happy so we'll give them money. Fans absolutely have the right to want more.

How many championships did he have? Just curious

SEC? same amount as les

2002 and 2005 sec champs

les 2007 and 2011 champs

LSU has had just one sec west title the last 8 years.

as far as division titles richt has made 5 trips (2002, 2003, 2005, 2011, 2012) to atlanta and has 6 division titles counting the tie with UT in 2007.

UGA had had enough also of all those nice seasons with empty wins but not enough hardware. i'm surprised richt lasted as long as he did.

that was funny. he quickly learned that crap won't work with the noise in the SEC.

I can see you have no problem at all get corn-holed every year by the Gumps. You probably relish the idea. If you're not completely and utterly frustrated by this dilemma, then I would question your claim as an LSU fan.

some of these fans are very simple minded..."Hey guys we won 8-9 games what a great season" ...forget the fact we usually are more talented than all but one of the teams we face every year

Can you remind me which division is tougher, is it the east or the west? (it's the one with the team that has Nick Saban)
-If we're in the east then we would have definitely made it to Atlanta more than we have being in the west. It's no secret that Alabama has stopped us from making it to ATL multiple times

Better yet answer this: Over a ten year time span what has been the hardest division in the history of college football?
I'd argue that you won't find one tougher than what the SEC West has been from 2005-2015/present

If I remember correctly, Coach Mac had a similar problem with Coach Bryant and it ended up costing him his job.

you do remember correctly.

the problem became the program went into the toilet until we hired bill arnsparger. bo rein was killed and he seemed to be an upgrade from Mac but we will never know. my point is firing miles for not beating bama could easily back fire. hiring a great replacement is all about timing and LUCK. unfortunately, bad luck is as common as good luck.

I have had problems with out passing offense since before 1-9-12. Until we can show the ability to complete crucial passes consistently I will always have a problem. We are too talented not to be able to attack teams with the pass when the run is shut down.

Yea, better listen to this guy. After all he told us he played QB Probably can also whip arse on any member of the LSU team, out coach anyone in college or pro ball and is a billionaire with 5 private jets.

But your original point was that lsu is not here to make us happy...which is completely false.

Besides, 'happy' means buying tickets, apparel, and donating money. If tiger fans are truly unhappy and stop supporting the team financially, a change needs to be made.

We're obviously not there yet.

Man I really believe this team could do some special things this year and wisky is going to have to play a perfect game to keep this thing close. LF is ready to prove the last match up was a fluke. If we had the depth that we will have in a couple years with this current team no one would come close to beating us but without the quality depth it will hurt at some point. LF said he thinks that this years class could be better than theirs and I agree with him. I think this 17 class will be just as good if not slightly better. Bans fans better wake the fuc up if they think LSU is going to stay down. They are in for a rude awakening if they don't think LSU can recruit right there with them on the front seven also. We coming baby we coming. GT

It's a secret to everyone but you, apparently:

2005: Went to SECCG
2006: Beat Alabama
2007: Went to SECCG
2008: Lost five SEC games, would not have gone to SECCG even we had beaten Alabama.
2009: Lost three SEC games, would not have gone to SECCG even if we had beaten Alabama
2010: Beat Alabama
2011: Went to SECCG
2012: The ONLY time Alabama was the reason we didn't go to SECCG
2013: Lost three SEC games, would not have gone to SECCG even if we had beaten Alabama
2014: Lost four SEC games, would not have gone to SECCG even if we had beaten Alabama.
2015: Lost three SEC games, would not have gone to SECCG even if we had beaten Alabama.

And for this year, obviously losing to Alabama will have nothing to do with our chances, as we will have at least three SEC losses before that one (Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss) and two more after (Arkie, Aggy).

This excuse for Miles is literally an exact replica of the old excuses for Charles McClendon, but with Saban substituting for Bear Bryant. And it's just as untrue, if not more so, now as it was then.

Complete and utter bullshite. If we were going to fire Mac for not beating Bear Bryant, we would not have waited 18 years for him to go 2-14 against him before pulling the trigger. Mac got fired for the same reason Miles will. He was losing to too many other teams in addition to Alabama.

Stovall had a rocky four years, but at least in those four years he beat Alabama and went to a major bowl, something we hadn't done in the last 9 and 6 years, respectively, under McClendon. The program didn't really go into the toilet until 1989, TEN YEARS and three coaches after McClendon was gone, and that was only because a bunch of morons in charge at LSU hired Mike Archer and turned down Spurrier, Stallings and others in 1987.

quote:

firing miles for not beating bama could easily back fire

Miles won't be fired for not beating Alabama. He will be fired for not beating a lot of other teams, too.

quote:

hiring a great replacement is all about timing and LUCK.

bullshite. It's about having competent people doing the hiring and hiring the right coach. It's also about keeping on trying until you get it right. That's what Alabama has done since Bryant retired and died. Hired and fired a few, found Stallings, won titles, he retired. Hired and fired a few more, found Saban, won titles. That's the difference between winning programs and losing programs. Winning programs demand winning titles or they send coaches packing. Losing programs hold onto coaches who will not win titles because it could always be worse.
