The question was absurd.

didn't click the link, but I think it's clear that despite what his haters parrot, Les wants Harris to eventually take over and become the starter. But unlike them--the haters--he is not willing to "take our lumps" to prepare for the future. Les wants to play for victory every game and he is going to do whatever it takes (in his opinion) to put his team in position to that every week.

I think you're overthinking this. I think Les was calling the guy a dumb frick for asking him about the 2015 quarterback when we have four tough conference games left in 2014.

If you are right and we are playing to win now, why is Jennings playing QB?

If you want to hold Auburn over Harris' head, exactly how many points did Jennings engineer in relief?

Playing Jennings hand-cuffs our offense and hurts our chances at victory on Saturday night. You know, the next game.

I'd contend that Cam is in charge of developing QBs now. I'd also contend his track record is pretty darn good.

Michigan - Griese, Collins, Harbaugh - all drafted

Redskins - Frerotte made Pro Bowl with Cam as QB coach

Indiana - Randle El (6th in Heisman voting; one backup drafted; 3rd string signed as free agent)

Chargers - Rivers and Brees both made Pro Bowl with Cam as OC

Ravens - Flacco -

LSU - Mettenberger

Sorry if I think our young guys have a chance to be well developed.

Which is a dumb question to ask in an interview after a game that has just been completed.

Why is it a dumb question when your starting QB is just barely 50% passing on the season with twice as many sacks as TDs?

This QB battle has been the main story line all season, if you think it's stupid to try to glean a little insight on the future of the position, I'm not sure what to tell you.

The question may have been poorly phrased, but it was pertinent. No matter how much you love it when reporters get "faced" by coaches, these guys are just trying to do their jobs to give guys like you the information for which you yearn froth-mouthed and eyes glazed staring at your computer.

Again, I loved Les' response because I like his personality as much as I like snarky joking responses. But think about the job the reporter is trying to do before you call him an idiot.

Love CLM answer. If it is meant for Jennings to start next year so be it. When and if Harris is ready he will start. He will not make any irrational decisions until it is time to make a change and no one will make him do it until he is darn ready.

A better question would've been about the development of QBs over a 10 year span with only 1-2 being drafted.
I figure that with about 50 QBs being drafted in that amount of time, that would be 2 for every top 20 team and 10 for the other 90 teams in the country. Pretty good number.

Oh, and most NFL type QBs start 2-3 years, so there isn't a lot of churn at that position in 10 years.

I also would rather focus on drafted DBs, WRs, RBs, and DL.....but I like to think about amazingly positive shite.

3 of the 4 next opponents are in the top 5 in the country and the reporter is asking about next year. He needs to get a life. We worry about next year, after the season is over

Typical Les response that I really enjoy. Good stuff there.

You people getting all serious up in this thread need to step back and just enjoy a laugh without anal-lyzing every damn thing posted on the Rant into oblivion! Sheesh... It's a funny clip. Laugh. Go be all serious in one of the bazillion other threads on this board.

I don't like smart-alecky Les Miles. He gets paid quite a lot of money to field questions, and his response wasn't clever, anyway.

Is Les turning a corner into rudeness now?

In this example, the reporter wants to know "who are you grooming to be the QB of the future," Which is a dumb question to ask in an interview after a game that has just been completed. Even if Miles knows the answer to this question, he isn't going to just come out and answer it.

I agree, a post game interview isn't the place to ask about preparing for the future. I can understand why people would ask about Harris, because honestly, Jennings hasn't done enough to be the starter, imo. But that's a question that can be asked, at a later time.

It was an insulting question. He asked "Have you and Cam given any thought to the quarterback situation next year". I mean what kind of dumb frick question is that. I liked his response. You ask that question to Nick Saban he probably ends the press conference, curses you out and then slaps your children.

...had CLM actually answered, the headline would read

"MILES ABANDONS SEASON: ALREADY LOOKING FOR NEXT YEAR'S QB"

I think the facial expression at the end was classic.
