we have to be able to run the ball or I'm a little worried now

Wait wait wait.....are you telling me that with JJ you were confident in our ability to throw the ball downfield without the advantage of a successful running attack.

That's crazy talk.

I'd venture over 25% would've been read or option, or plays set up by the option.
This is a personality/ identity change, I'm afraid.

And you don't think that was tailored to JJ's strengths? Of course it was, and it was to limit him from making mistakes passing. Lee offers much more in the passing game, so the offense with him will be very different.

People forget how poorly Davey played at times in 2000, but then in 2001 as a senior a switch flipped when handed the reigns, turned it on and set records. I am not expecting that type of year from Lee obviously, but I think he's got a shot to be a solid QB for LSU this year.

the only disadvantage is that JJ had been getting all the first team snaps. But, its not like Lee has never started... I'm sure 2 weeks is enough time for him to get ready.

Bottom line.....without a very productive running game I am very scared to think of what this season will bring.....I mean if Ware doesn't go for 1000 yds we will be in deep crap. IMO

ETA that was before the Shady's shenanigans and still holds true.

Lee will be okay until he gets hit in the mouth 1 good time. Then from there he will be throwing off his back foot and fading away from contact. I would love to say he has overcome that fear but, i won't be onboard until we can see how he reacts to that lick.

If there's any validity to this, it offers an opportunity for one of the better comeback stories in CFB. I hope Lee is up to the challenge and has a great year. He deserves it for sticking it out when a lesser man would've quit.

ehh... Ware could go for less than 1000 and we'll be ok if Ford, Blue, Gore, and McGee all do their parts

I'm excited yet terrified at the same time. I don't know what to think of this (if true).

I don't care if Bobby Boucher starts at quarterback and Lady Gaga is the offensive coordinator, I'm ready to get this thing started and play with what we got.
Everybody just chill about whether "your guy" is the man or not get ready to kick some duck arse!!

It is what it is!

I'll just be glad to get some concrete info...no matter who is named starter at this point. All this up in the air crap is distracting...to me.

You can't seem to see thru your hate.
Of course it was tailored to JJ's strengths. That's where the concern lies.
According to all reports I've seen, Lee didn't offer any more in passing game and JJ was "clearly the most effective".
Not hatin, that's just what's been reported.

If I may borrow a few lines from all the JJ supporters in here.

Jarret Lee will be the starting qb for the Oregon game. Let's all get behind him and let him know that we are there for him. Whether you like him or not he is LSU's qb. With the help of Kragthorpe he is probably much improved and the offense will be geared to his strengths. All this negativity towards a young man that you don't even know, what kind of message are you sending. Les is the coach and he knows best. LET'S ALL GET BEHIND HIM!!!!!

This is actually more fitting for all the Pumpers of Sunshine that are infected with Gump Syndrome Disorder and their unyielding support of LSU athletes, coaches and administrators regardless of the circumstances.

Lee will start, but Mett will finish.
That's where I'm at.

I think Lee can get us through 3 games before things get too bad. About the same as what I was hoping from JJ.

Hopefully, Mett can get ready in that span and take over.
