In Houston, just damn frustrated. Lange has not looked sharp and iwas an off night but zero help from the coaches. The coaching staff are the kings of one batter too many. Whether it is one batter too long to talk to the pitcher or one too many to take them out. We are dreadful at knowing when to coach and when to let a kid throw. They seriously have it down to a science and intentionally do the wrong thing every time. Lang just walked two guys has men on base, do we talk and try to calm him down? Nope, we waited till he gave up a home run. He walked the bottom of the freaking line up that batted a combined .250 go talk to him!

I'm trying to think of anyone Dunn has done anything with. I forgot McKay is even on the team (yes, I know he's hurt right now). Norman hasn't done anything. Gilbert is a natural talent. We haven't had a third starter in years.

What exactly are we paying him to do?

Everyone complained about Javi, but Dunn is an absolute joke. It must be really nice to recruit a stud pitchers every few years, and ride their coattails claiming them for your resume. I can't name one pitcher who significantly improved from their freshman year their final year under Dunn that made him the "assistant coach of the year".

Shut the frick up. Every pitcher has an off outing every now and then.
Classic. Classic defense, justification and acceptance and of yet another loss by an LSU Athletic team to a Top 5 opponent.

Tigers don't have many problems with the patsy's, but can't handle the Big Boys in any sport. (Maybe Gymnastics).............................

Ranters criticizing Coach Dunn? I thought I seen a lot of dumb rants before but these take the cake. He was the minor league director of pitching for the Orioles for over a decade. The director of all the minor league teams. He was National Pitching Coach of the Year 2 years ago. But his resume' is built on riding the coattails of great pitchers? Every one of those pitchers have sang his praises, Lang most recently. Check out the staff's ERA before last nite. Lang walked 2 batters before last nite. Take any player's stats for his best year & when he fails to match them again, he's digressing?

Why can't he develop a 3rd day starter?

Lange had the best ever freshman year in LSU baseball history. 2nd year you could see the regression, 1.89 era 1st year, 0ver 3.5 ear 2nd year. He is always behind hitters and lots of 3-2 counts. His curve ball is horrible and I don't see it getting better.

It's a bad game those happen to every pitcher at every level.

Not true. In 3 years of college ball I never allowed more than 4 runs in a game. Granted it was juco ball but those were the days of the gorilla bats so it is roughly equivalent to pitching in the SEC today. Not trying to say I was better than Lange necessarily but it's simply not true that all pitchers are inconsistent

And Dunn hasn't done a damn thing to help progress pitchers for LSU. You can find any Joe Schmoe, sit him with a damn cigar and watch the pitchers develop and regress at the exact same rate as they currently do. You can see the same lack of bull pen year after year, same lack of a 3rd starter. What the hell does he contribute besides riding the success of kids that would succeed without him?

Could Lange work on developing a third pitch, say a knuckle curve, or a Palm ball?

Obviously, the timing for him to do this is not good, three starts into the season?

Also, are some of us panicking, with just one bad start?

He is a strike out pitcher. Strike out pitchers generaly give up some hits.

Lange would need coaching to develop a 3rd pitch, and that seems unlikely to happen.

Needs a third pitch
where are all these college pitchers with legit 3 good pitches? Most pitchers dont develop a decent 3rd pitch until its their job to throw pitches.

One bad performance against no. 1 team in country after a 12 strikeout performance and now he's garbage? Get a grip, Peter Pan!
